Man, did I call it or what?
Lindholm
Monahan
Backlund
Gawdin
Gawdin's already an improvement over Ryan, but he's gonna be the next Yelle by the time Sutter's done with him.

Great forward lines.
Don't like forcing the Zadorov with Tanev pairing.
I suppose you can't win em all. At least they got it mostly right.

Let’s see if he keeps his job when Richardson and Pitlick are healthy first

Not sure how you leave Coleman off the 2 PP units.
I would put Coleman on the first unit (so Johnny can tee him up), and then move Lindholm to the 2nd unit to replace Lucic and strengthen it
Tkachuk
Coleman - Monahan - Gaudreau
Andersson
Dube
Lindholm - Backlund - Mangiapane
Hanifin

Or, if you want to keep Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk on the same unit (so the line doesn't get split up), just switch Coleman and Lindholm

Interested to see if they flip Gaudreau back to Monahan's line when Coleman is back.

Seriously? Ryan is a million times better than Gawdin in every facet of the game.

I think the issue is you either:
A) Force a Tanev - Zadorov pair or;
B) Force a Tanev - Kylington pair;
C) Force a Zadorov - Andersson pair and putting Hanifin - Tanev together.
You pick A) because Zadorov was a first line defender last year, Kylington wasn't an NHLer last year and as the pace increased he got worse and Zadorov - Andersson was arguably the worst pairing the Flames put on the ice in the preseason.
Not ideal but I get why they are doing it.

They're practicing the PP for the next game, which Coleman won't play in.

Depending on how well that second line does in EDM, either the top two lines stay the same and Coleman slots in on the third, or Dube slides down and then Coleman and Mangiapane swap wings.

Force Kylington! Force Kylington!

While I agree, I don't think the Flames will miss Ryan for a moment. Nor do I think that Gawdin will get many games once (if) the Flames a healthy.
Ryan is a fine player, who plays a well rounded defensively conscious game, but gets bullied in the corners.
Gawdin is a replacement level fourth liner with poor foot speed but a nice shot.
Neither are difference makers, but Ryan is the better complimentary piece.

There's also the fact that Zadorov sucked less with Tanev than with any other partner. Zadorov-Tanev allows you to keep Zadorov in the lineup without exposing your jugular.
