still don't understand why they wouldn't wear the Blasty this year with fans in attendance. Half the dome would be in the black blasty too! Typical Flames.. wait too long and then don't reward the fans.

This next to the Yotes Kachina White's is the best jersey of all time.
I can't get behind these Retro's, I really believe that Ronald McDonald color scheme is why I wasn't a Flames fan as a kid (Pavel Bure Fanatic).. Blasty made me a Flames fan along with Val Bure's arrival.

For as much as Calgarians and CP dog Edmonton for being stuck in the 70's - the Red/Yellow look is extremely 70/80's in a bad way.
Black very much should be part of the equation with The Flames color scheme - just the added contrast looks so much better.

I'm not a fan of the black horse jersey. In fact, that's my least favorite NHL jersey of all time. Am I in the minority? From all the comments I heard back in the day about the flaming snot horse, I would have thought Blasty is not beloved by all fans.
I would pay real money for a Scorch jersey though.
My shameful secret is that I grew up on Theo on the pedastal so that's my secret indulgence.

It's likely a generational thing.
People who were adults when it was introduced generally hated it and let the Flames know it, which is why they eventually dropped it.
People who were kids when it was introduced have good memories of it. Those kids are now in their late 20s and 30s and have disposable income and bad taste, which is why it's back.
The same thing happens with a lot of pop-culture things that fall out of popularity only to have a resurgence 20 or so years later. It's the same reason we're seeing all the 80s and 90s tv reboots now.

I'm old and I kinda liked Blasty, FWIW. Then again, I didn't mind having some black in the regular unis either.

The correct heritage classic jersey red was more of a maroon than mcdonalds red. One problem is that it seems loke more people wore the bootlegged version which was very red and yellow.
