The third and fourth forward lines looks a bit unbalanced and I am betting it’s Hanifin / Andersson, Tanev / Zadorov

Vegas is going to be a mixed bag. I think the loss of Fleury is really going to be felt hard. The California teams are not in great shape and should be the punching bag for the rest of the league. Seattle is going to be brutal. That leaves Calgary, who will play a more defense driven system, but with some really bad defensemen. I'm not sure how this is going to play out, but I hope it works out.
I don't get the love for Vegas including amongst many pundits.
They are one of the weakest teams at centre in the entire league. And I agree they will miss MAF.

I think they take a step back and then a bigger one next season.

But I've been wrong about them every step of the way so who knows.

When has that ever hurt them?

But yes MAF not being there may see the team start to crack....seemed like one of the glue guys for sure.

the good news is that if Pitlick is not on IR, less likely Ritchie plays in the season opener.

Gawdin likely plays 4C if Richardson is still injured.

Why can't we ever start the season against Arizona or something.

The HNIC hype train will be nauseating.

I just hope Sutter master-plans something exciting for next Saturday, hopefully involving a start similar to the Hartley v Canucks shenanigans. What's the worst that can happen? Suspensions to some 4th liners and fines? Well worth it to set the tone for the season, and you know those morons up north will be chasing their own tail for 81 games after something like that.
As Dickie Dunn said... just trying to capture the spirit of the thing.

With Richardson injured and Coleman suspended, they don't have any extra forwards, so Ritchie will have to play on Saturday (barring any further moves, which are always possible).

He clearly doesn't have clue about who has been playing with who, and what has been going on in Calgary.

It was like reading a tweet from an Eastern reporter.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Pitlick - Monahan - Coleman
Mangiapane - Backlund - Dube
Lucic - Gawdin/Richardson - Lewis
Ritchie

Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Valimaki - Stone/Zadorov
Gudbranson

Markstrom
Vladar

Role the top 3 lines. There is no 2nd/3rd line in terms of TOI.

That's my line up based on what has been earned and fits more than who got what salary this summer.

Players I am excited about:

Mangiapane
Dube
Coleman
Gaudreau
Vladar

Players I am concerned about:

Gudbranson
Zadorov
Valimaki
Backlund
Ritchie

Players I am intrigued about:

Kylington
Tkachuk
Monahan
Hanifin
Andersson
Pitlick

There are a lot of question marks, for sure. Especially on D. But there is also a lot of depth, and it is a roster that could look good under Sutter.

The big ace in the hole - the chance for the Flames to be a strong or really strong team, is the goaltending. It might be fantastic.

The reason I am excited about this team is the combination of potentially having great goaltending, along with a great coach. A lot has to go right, but those two things could be a great foundation to build on.

I'm hoping that when Richardson is healthy that Gawdin has played well enough to have pushed Ritchie off this roster and to the AHL.

I like your lines and am of a similar mind. But maybe switch Monahan and Backlund
