I will say that under Tre, the Flames look to show a pretty big improvement for first round draft choices. All of Bennett, Valimaki and Tkachuk are NHL players worth discussing, and the others still have promise
Flames have been pretty awful at first round picks historically. The poster that noted there was one hit between 2004 and 2012 was correct with Backlund. Sutter, though not good on the whole at drafting, also drafted Phaneuf in 2003 for what it is worth.
Prior to 2003, taking us back to Kidd in 1990, it’s as ugly as can be
Eric Nystrom, Kobasew, Krahn, Saprykin, Fata, Tkaczuk, Morris, Gauthier, Dingman, Jesper Mattson, Cory Stillman, Niklas Sundblad and Trevor Kidd
Plenty more duds and even the guys that became NHLers were generally pretty unspectacular, except Stillman with his back to back Cups and Morris who had a long career.
Nystrom, Kobasew, Gauthier and Kidd all had ~10 ish year careers, Saprykin a bit less if I recall, but these are not noteworthy players if you’re not a Flames fan
Why does it matter.
Imagine being so down on the team you are a fan of that you find the negative in everything AND try to drag others down into your wallow
Sounds fun

It matters because people like you are part of the reason why this team never improves. You look down your nose at anyone who doesn’t join you in waving their pom poms to support a completely cynical franchise.
God forbid anyone questions their support for an organization that’s sucked for 30 years and goes out of their way to defy conventional wisdom about how to build a competitive hockey team. Why? To line ownership’s pockets in the short term, threaten the city with relocation for not subsidizing their billionaire owner’s plaything, and treat the fans like an endless and God-given fountain of income regardless of taking a direction you yourself have called confusing and wrong.
What must it feel like to be such a tireless defender of a faceless corporation that has so little respect for your time and money?

It’s sports
I’m a fan to have fun
That’s it
And I don’t agree with everything the team does but you are so blinded by your negativity you can’t see anyone who isn’t similarly as negative
Why are you even a fan? You clearly get no joy from this

Meh I’ll take enjoying being a fan over whatever miserable experience it is for you where you can’t even stand any positivity
I'm glad you can enjoy such an anti-consumer product. I can't.

You have lost all perspective. Maybe it's time to step back and ask yourself what you're even doing. Take a break.

The bottom line is, no matter what you do as a fan, you are not part of either the problem or any possible solution. Boycotting games merely leaves the team with fewer resources to attempt any solution. In any case, ‘THE solution’ does not exist; there are many ways to build a winning team. So you can retire the tired 1960s New Left slogans.
The sole function of a professional hockey team is to provide people with entertainment. If you're not entertained, do something else for fun. Just don't delude yourself that you are performing some high and holy function by griping about it on the internet.

See, no offence, but when I read this post, in order for it to be effective, it has to match the context and degree of seriousness of the post to which it is a response. Swing and a miss
I think everyone knows this, so the escalatory reframing and moral grandstanding is far from impressive
