I don't think it would take that much,if you could convince Monahan to waive I think Monahan, Valimaki, Wolf and a 1st would do it.

Buffalo would want 2 first round picks to begin with. Then maybe Monahan, Mangipane and Andersson.

Agreed. Need to outbid some asset rich teams. We do have what it takes but he can't overrate or fall in love with guys. I don't envy him. Obviously a big decision but that's literally his job.

Right, but you only get a deal like that by playing coy, which is essentially how Treliving has been handling it. You don't get that deal by pushing all your chips in and begging your opponent to take it.

If they were interested something like would would have happened over the summer. Buffalo wants more than teams are willing to give up (and I don't blame them) and that's why we are where we are.

That's your slant for sure. Trying to save the value of a 1st round pick and potentially missing out is definitely an approach he can take I suppose. Unfortunately there will be other interested teams to outbid though

No way in hell would give up Monahan + Mangiapane from the main roster... plus Wright/Bedard tickets.

I don't know. Buffalso seems quite willing to wait until they get the offer they want. Besides Buffalo is not in a place where they are going to contend for a playoff spot.

So far you're right but at some point they'll need to cave under the scrutiny from the fans, media and possibly even NHLPA/NHL, I'd be willing to bet they had their best offer 4 months ago for this guy.

Minus the 3, 4 and 6 in 2022, they also have all their picks the next three years plus the 2nd from Florida.

This team spent a 1st and two 2nds on Travis Hamonic.

There is nothing they could lose that couldn’t be replaced with even league-average GMing, and the return is a franchise cornerstone centre under contract for 5 years.

If it doesn’t work, at least they tried.

But Eichel's value diminishes with each passing month. Teams are wagering that Eichel will eventually move for less than the current asking price, and the more time he misses on the ice, the more the term on his deal shrinks, the lower the offers are going to be. Then add to that the ticking time bomb of his approaching NTC, and it seems to me that Buffalo needs to get this done sooner than later.

Not really. In the last couple of weeks they have made the medical records accessible and approved conditions to be added to trade offers. With the season starting in a week I think they are getting pretty anxious.
