Bill Hicks did it very well. Pryor was a bit before my time but he was doing this kind of stand-up philosophizing before all of them.
Chappelle transcended to that level over the course of his last SNL monologue, 8:46, and The Closer.
I'm not surprised seeing heavily left persons and outlets in my follows completely missing the point or being distracted by trigger words. It proves his point without them ever understanding what it was in the first place.
That's pretty remarkable.

Yeah Pryor is probably a good ambassador for what Chappelle is doing. I’ve seen some of his work and Chappelle definitely got his inspiration there.

The final Jack Whitehall travels was enjoyable. I guess I’m growing up because in the first season I sympathised with Jack for having to deal with his grumpy old dad but by the final season I sympathised with Michael for having to put up with his immature son.

Its two extremes.
His dad is a stuck-up ass and Jack is an idiot. I wouldnt be caught dead traveling with either of them.
If they traveled like that and werent rich they'd probably wake up in a bathtub full of ice. Albeit briefly.

As much as I enjoy a lot of Chappelle's stuff, his notions are simply not as profound or thought provoking as Carlin. I guess the theme of Closer is that the trans community should leave comedians alone because they get a free pass to say whatever they want because it's all just jokes? In reality, it is more like you can only make fun of what you are... and heterosexual white people.
Really surprised this most recent special got accepted at Netflix as it really pushes things- and seeing today that there is a lot of blowback.

He’s definitely not as profound or intelligent as Carlin. I’ve also read some highly critical responses to his positions that tear his ideas to shreds, and rightfully so.
I think the problem is that he’s gone from comedy to philosophy/beliefs but whenever someone criticizes his beliefs, he shoots them down, weaponizes his fan base and uses the “its just comedy” defence as a shield.
Because if we really break it down, most of his arguments are weak, borderline stupid, but the comedy part is funny.
He also seems extremely hung up on the topic, dedicating what? Half is special towards it? He seemed more than defensive, he was clearly on full tilt. I don’t think he should be getting angry when people challenge his ideas, which he claims go beyond comedy but only when convenient.
He’s also really good at playing the victim card. I wish he’d focus on things that are important to him, like issues in the black community, rather than attack the LGBTQ community repeatedly.
That being said, I enjoyed the special and find that the lgbtq community is giving him exactly what he wants when they act like victims and simultaneously call for him to be cancelled. Probably best to take the high road on this one.

I read one review that was skewering his idea that he said every person is born from between a woman's legs. The review said that he conveniently forgot c-sections. At that point I knew what type of logic the author had, and knew it was going to be a terrible critique.
Anyway, I liked his story telling, and he's definitely the best comedian out there because of how natural he is. But this lacked those laugh out loud moments mostly, and was easily his worst from the specials.
As for his logic, what I think he was getting at is lost on most -- if you can laugh at yourself and things in general, you won't be going to the easy road of cancel culture over small things that hurt your feelings. He used his friend as an example who paid the ultimate price. I can understand why the alphabet community is angry at him as are others, because they were the butt end of it, but his style is pointing out sillyness through racial and marginalized examples and at the end I don't think he means things literally. It's a creative way of storytelling and talking about touchy principles.

Not sure if mentioned, but stumbled upon Oats Studio the other day.
Like a combination of Black Mirror, Love Death and Robots, and District 9, all in 1.
Neil Blomkamp is the director.
Loved it

That story reeked of “I can’t be racist, I have a black friend.”

The Guilty was total garbage I found. I detest not finishing a movie as a principle to find out what happened, and while I did finish it, half way through it felt like acting, and I didn't care what happened or what was going on...just went through the motions of finishing it. 2/10
Driven was about John Delorean in a humorous way, and I like the actor, but the story telling and angle they choose seemed bland. 4/10
Lansky was relatively okay, but again, they could've made it a real gangster movie or told it from a better angle which kept you guessing, so it missed out on something. 6/10
A lot of duds recently on Netflix.

A major roadblock in any kind of rhetoric with Trans issues is the fundamental misunderstanding surrounding not only the separation of sex and gender, but also the fluidity and interconnectedness between the two.
Dave was certainly guilty of this in the special. The quote "Gender is a fact" is problematic. It's true, but not in the way Dave meant it. He's referring to biology.
The LGBTQ community is also guilty of this. Throwing around the term TERF in order to completely disregard a person and their viewpoints is dangerous, much in the same way "racist" is thrown around too casually.
There's a dialogue that can happen around all of this, and my impression from the special is that Chappelle is inviting people to really think about this and join the conversation. Even now we don't seem to be able to do this as honestly as I think we need to.

Watched Chapelle's last special, and he's treading into insufferable territory now. He obviously gets off on being controversial and his ego is the size of a small planet. I hope he takes a few years off now, his current schtick is getting very old

Norm Macdonald was on another level. He knew how to make people laugh with pure comedy. Never pandered, never grandstanded, never had a point to make. Comedy was always simple, pure and important to him - Make people laugh.
