Planning study was done in 2010 by AECOM.
Planning study for Highway 22 twinning from Bragg to Cochrane was done in 2014 by ISL.
No timeline for shovels in the ground on either of these, but the planning study just means we kind of have an idea of how it will go when the time comes, a rough cost, and any major obstacles.

The bit of Glenmore (that's now 10 lanes wide) from just west of Discovery Ridge until Sarcee is now technically renamed Stoney. That stretch of road is now technically both highway 201 and highway 8. Glenmore's west end is now at Sarcee. As for the official end point of highway 8, I'm not exactly sure. Have to see if the length is revised in the Alberta Transportation document next year.

Tsuut'ina Trail refers only to the section of 201 that lies within the legal boundaries of the reserve, which is from just south of the Sarcee interchange down to Fish Creek. This is dumb. For the purpose of simplifying signage they should have just named the entire piece from Glenmore to 22X as Tsuut'ina, so the road name changes at interchanges where it bends 90° instead of in the middle of nowhere.
There is a slim possibility the folks from the Stoney reserve did not want this, given that Tsuut'ina wanted the entire ring to be named Tsuu'tina and there was something of a minor conflict as to what pavement would carry what name.
