Why? United are selling shares and the Saudis seem flush with cash, this is the optimal time to make a deal!

I'd rather stick with the American leeches over a murderous regime, thank you very much.

"Legally Binding Assurances" = A massive cash deposit into their accounts.

You know...in one way it kind of makes me reconsider the Super League.
Initially my attitude towards that was "this is stupid and insane and I want my team to be no part of it."
But if you're going to have Sovereign Oil Conglomerates buying up clubs and ratcheting up transfer fees and wages through the goddamned roof...it might make some sense to have a segregated league where their fees and wages dont count as comparables.
I mean, we're talking about potentially ~$100/bbl Oil and Saudi just snaps up Newcastle? I know they've been at this a while but it seems like a helluva coincidence.
Just a quick look at English PL Owners:
- Brentford
- Brighton and Hove Albion
- Crystal Palace (66%)
- Everton (18%)
- Norwich (32%)
- Tottenham
- West Ham (35%)

And of course FFP has been shown to be a complete joke. It would be one thing if there was some teeth to that, or a salary cap or basically anything to try to level things out. Instead, you have financial doping and none of the would-be authorities doing much about it.

Of course not. Because effectively everyone of consequence profits.
Until it becomes completely unsustainable and the bottom falls out....but thats 'Tomorrow PL's Problem!'
Its not like major clubs like Barcelona and Juventus are having significant financial issues! So keep on chuggin!

I read the Athletic story about the Newcastle take-over, and you know who is going to be thrilled? Our very own Brad Treliving! The new owners are going to be all about "process". And nobody has a better Process (TM) than Brad. So, when he is free to pursue other career options, Director of Operations at NUFC sounds like a pretty, pretty sweet landing spot...

I dont know....its hard to rag on Newcastle fans here, they have suffered a lot under Ashley.
Besides...look at all of those Saudi Owned Clubs and how poorly they're doing! Look at them all!
