Just because it didn’t ruin his career doesn’t mean it’s excusable as a good way to develop a prospect. There’s no way he got better spending an entire year in the press box

Fortunate outcome yes but seems more like dumb luck

The following is all my subjective opinion but:

2018-19? Kylington was awesome in the calendar year 2018. His play definitely dipped in Jan 2019, but that could have been attributed to a mid-season slump, which... pretty much every player will have. Kylington pretty much never saw the ice again the rest of the way, even though the Kylington-Prout pairing proved very effective in all the right ways. I get what the logic in acquiring Fantenberg was - he seemed to be a better fit as Andersson's partner on the third pair - but we lost a lot of dynamic ability.

2019-20? I'll agree here. Not because Kylington played poorly however with respect to turnovers et al, but because he didn't produce offensively, and Gustaffsson did.

2020-21? He lost his spot to Valimaki almost by default without any merit / demerit. Do you really want to argue that Valimaki or Nesterov played "well enough"? And while I'm praising Sutter previously, I think it's still inane that he didn't try Kylington out somewhere once Hanifin was done of the season. I have to hope that Sutter's logic actually was tied to the crazy expansion draft theories.

That's a cop out to give Ritchie a penalty just to keep Winnipeg on the penalty.

Agreed - and I’m pretty sure they penalized the wrong Jet for boarding. Wasn’t it Harkins who made the hit?

That was another fantastic save by Vladar, though.

The “incompetent coaches mishandled Kylington” argument kinda dies in the second half of last season. I have to admit I haven’t seen the level of bad play from him that the coaches seem to though. I suppose practice may have something to do with, or he’s just not playing the system they want (and we fans only notice the individual play).

Goalies being the pure voodoo that they are makes it tough - but this is looking like a really promising pick-up. Dude has looked great in the pre-season.
