Trim that bush, it will make your shed look bigger.

Pregnant lady winning flooring battle by default. Bull####. Whatever, we’ll drop $1K on area rugs and pretend that’s a better option than just going with carpet.
Vinyl plank vs Laminate? I know enough to know what I’m looking for with both products, but to me they’re both hard and uncomfortable. Not going in a tremendously heavy use space, not in a washroom, not on concrete.
Is there any reason at all to go with vinyl plank if I can score a deal on nice laminate? They both feel like plastic, but is vinyl somehow a ‘quieter’ or softer option?

I don't know if this will help, but have you tried distracting her with comfy shoes? Like memory foam slippers/sandals or ultra comfy yarn socks with the anti-slip grippy things and extra padded sole?

Have a question - anyone have any idea how I can easily remove this in case I need to clean the drain in the shower?
3 people in my house with long thick hair, so I know its only a matter of time before I need my snake to pull out some clumps...

I suggest you yield, immediately.
And probably get the comfy slippers.
Maybe a backrub.
This is a battle you don't want to win.

Exactly. Hard floors are absolutely the wrong choice here, but that’s what she wants. I could mirror the Sistine chapel down there and she’d still be disappointed if the floor was carpet.
So, hard floors it is. Apparently a laminate with good pad is the best choice for comfort and acoustics, so I’ll be going that way I suppose.

I think the Sistine Chapel would look super tacky with carpet...maybe a nice thick '70s shag though...

Those rugs should really pull the room together nicely though.

I am looking for some kind of outdoor power switch, like something to put inline with an extension cord connected to a string of fairy lights. I have a couple of outdoor outlets, but they aren't controlled by switches inside, so I would like something that I can walk out the door and flip on/off easily. I'd prefer not to plug and unplug into the outlet.
Can I make my own with some cords and a junction box and install it on one of the balcony pillars? I was thinking running a single-ended cord from my outdoor outlet into double-gang box containing a switch and a receptacle. Would this be kosher?

No, I don't think that would be to code. Can you just swap the outlet for a switched receptacle? Or use a power bar with a switch? Not sure they make outdoor rated ones. Or a switched extension cord. This one is even remote controlled.

That's the one that I saw on Ducay's list that looked like it would work. Will dig into that.
I should probably update the wiring though so I can add a switch inside. I am kind of surprised they didn't have their own, since there is already a switch right there for the outdoor light, and directly underneath is the outlet.

I have this for outdoor use:
https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-Kasa-K.../dp/B07M6RS2LC
You can control it by the buttons on the unit itself, but you can also turn it on and off with a phone or set up a schedule if it's something you want on regularly. I have one running landscape lights and it has been great.
