Hey, they lost on a stupid coaching decision!

Just run it on 3rd and 3 and then if it's 4th and 1 you go for it and try to kick it at 0's. In the rain from that far out it was at best a coin flip for that kick to go through, and that's being generous. Far more likely to convert the 4th down.

Happy birthday Brady! by Bellichek.

What a terrible play call on 3rd and 3. How do you not go for it, especially in this rain.

I can't believe Belichick didn't go for it on 4th & 3 there. I know that's a tough call, but better than 56 yards in the rain. I can't believe it was even as close as it was

I don’t think running was an option. Patriots had negative yards rushing the whole night. I was good with the play call on 3rd down but do think they should have gone for it on 4th down.

The bad play calls were on the Bucs side. Two long throws to the end zone when a first down essentially wins the game. Lucky that didn’t bite them.

What is TSN doing? They just showed the game and then showed Brady’s entire post game interview again less than 2 mins after it aired originally. Weird.

Well I wasn't paying much attention to the game in the first half and in the second Jones had that streak going so they just didn't get to the run much, but even so, if you hand the ball off the odds are you get somewhere between 1 and 5 yards. The fact that they'd been throwing the ball so much and that there was limited time left actually just made it even more likely that you'd convert. I mean as noted even if you make that kick, there's a decent chance you still lose. It's just a poor decision all around.

Considering the Bucs easily have the best run defense in the league and the Patriots averaged negative YPC last night I don't think the odds were favorable to getting any positive yardage on a run. But even if it was going for a 34 yard FG instead of a 54 yard FG, the goal of a sequence like that is to kick with 0:03 seconds left. We've already seen multiple examples this year of teams getting into FG range in less than 40 seconds, even with one or no timeouts. Hurry up offense is more efficient than ever, the days of hoping your defense holds on are coming to an end and more teams are recognizing no matter how good your defense is at the end of the game you want your offense to close the game.

I used to like him but now he goes so overboard now gushing over any decent play and fawning over players. Jones played good but not great last night but Collins gush about his performance like he was doing Mahomes or Herbert things. I'm just happy he didn't rehash AB's million dollar smile and couldn't find an opening to tell us how amazing Dak Prescott is.

I thought that David made a really good play to knock down that pass on 3rd and 3 to put it in that situation. With that much time left in the game and the weather conditions, plus time outs for Tampa, they likely should have tried going for it. At the least attempt to draw an offside there. If they had made it there was still a lot of time left for Brady. Even if you do run the ball on 3rd and 3 when you're down and in borderline field goal range...you end up using your time out and likely are facing 4th and 3. If David doesn't get his hand up there and it's a 8 yard completion Collinsworth isn't the only one going on about Mac Jones today.

I'd say the likelihood of a run losing yards in that situation, in that game, was quite a bit greater than getting 1 to 5 yards. The Patriots crossed the line of scrimmage once on 8 rushing attempts. Another rushing loss was negated on an offensive holding call.

So I'm good with having the QB who completed 19 straight throw the ball on 3rd down. They should have gone for it on 4th and it's strange that they didn't.

But everyone second guesses the losing team. The Bucs last two offensive plays on the previous possession were weird play calls and should have cost them the game.

What a dick move by Harbaugh in Denver yesterday.

The game is over and you still try to rush for yards on the last play of the game?

Yes he's one of the biggest dicks in the league but in this case they did it to keep their 43 game streak of rushing for over 100 yards alive.

I for one expect a pretty good Monday Night game tonight. I dislike the Chargers a fair bit, but they are a team who tends to end up in close games every single week. They're always a talented team that seem to step on their own toes, but can they finally shake that rep? On the other side I have a lot more dislike for the Raiders, but they have beaten 3 teams who all won 10 or more games last year to get to their 3-0 record, and I think this will pretty much be a home game for them tonight. They are also a team that seems to always end up in a close game when they play in prime team. So I'm looking forward to this, and I hope this teams bludgeon the holy hell out of each other playing to a tie. The Raiders either score a huge leg up in the AFC West, or a Charger win really squeezes that Division to be a lot tighter.

The Raiders always play close games within the division so I would expect a FG win likely for the Chargers. Carr's ability to get rid of the ball quickly has kind of masked how bad the offensive line has been and the run blocking in particular is worst in the league which doesn't mesh with a head coach that likes to run the ball. I have a feeling that may catch up to them tonight. Should be a good game though as lots of offensive talent on display as even without a running game the Raiders are the only team with 4 players with over 200 yards receiving after three games and no other team had more than 2.

Does Urb even make it thru the season?

Quote:
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars coach Urban Meyer said Monday he apologized to his team, his family, and owner Shad Khan after a viral video surfaced over the weekend that showed a young woman dancing close to his lap at his restaurant in Columbus, Ohio.

"I just apologized to the team and staff for being a distraction," Meyer said. "Just stupid, and so I explained everything that happened and owned it. Just stupid. Should not have myself in that kind of position."

Meyer did not fly back to Jacksonville with the team last Thursday night and instead went to Columbus to visit with his grandchildren. Meyer said he and family members went to his restaurant -- Urban Meyer's Pint House -- on Friday night, and people at a nearby event asked to take photos with him. Meyer said he should have left when people tried to get him to dance with them.

One thing after another with this guy......USC has an opening.

The Chargers are playing this new NFL style defence, where they are quite willing to let you go between the 20's 6-7 yards at a time type of thing if you are patient enough to try and do it without taking a penalty or turning the ball over. So they do dare you to check the ball down or run it, and than hope to force red zone field goals/turnovers on downs, than outscore you if you don't screw up.

Carr has actually been throwing a lot deeper this year as I think after last week he had the highest Air Yards per attempt in the league, and had completed more of these deep throws than anyone else. The Chargers likely won't send much pressure, and likely keep 2 deep safety's. So that's a game within the game to see how that plays out.
