No idea why Kirkland is still in camp. Really don't see it with him...

I don’t think Duehr makes this team out of camp. He reminds me of josh jooris in 2014-15. Terrific camp but came out of nowhere and the numbers of the past do matter too. I do think he’s an early call up, just as jooris was (he was the first call up before guys like baertschi, ferland, granlund)

Duehr was just hitting his stride in the final 14 games of last season. If he continues to play well it is just cool that something just clicked in place for him. Good to see and another astute signing.

Think he's in Stockton for their camp for now. Once the Q camps open, he will likely get sent down.

Believe he's cannot play in A this year. Its NHL or junior.

Kirkland’s shown good energy and has been pretty responsible defensively from what I’ve seen of him. I’m guessing Sutter sees him and Duehr similarly.

I don’t think either of them will be on the team on day 1 but they’ll be one of the first call-up options.

Kirkland has been noticeable for good reasons. He was given a try in the shootout as a reward for his work the other night. He was excellent in the neutral and defensive zone. I don't see us having enough room for him to start the season, but Sutter really seems to like him.

The QMJHL season has already started Saint John is already 2 games into the season.

Because he already has played 4 major junior league seasons he is eligible to play in the AHL.

It is interesting because he hasn't signed a pro contract yet and it looked like he was going back to Saint John especially with them hosting the Memorial Cup.

Agree Gawdin has taken a step and can play center. However Duehr clearly has a size and speed advantage and I think a higher ceiling than Gawdin.

The thing is, they can always send them down, but once they're sent down, they can't be brought back up until Saint John's season is over -- and since the Sea Dogs are hosting the Memorial Cup, their season won't be over until June. As a result, I'm sure the Flames aren't in a rush to make the decision.

Also, because Saint John is hosting the Memorial Cup, their regular season performance isn't as important because they already get an automatic berth.

Can we have Valimaki and Kylington in the line up together on any given night?

If only.
Eric wouldn’t last 2 months in Stockton.

Long odds on a player playing 4 NCAA years getting seasoned enough to make the NHL in his first pro season.

Corban Knight, Colton Poolman Bill Arnold are great 4 year NCAA players.

Hathaway got 4 NCAA seasons in and was 22 his first of 3 years where he played primarily in the AHL.

Well I don't know if it's being seasoned enough. Maybe just more about whether most 4 year NCAA players are good enough. Hathaway was a bit of an outlier becoming full time NHLer at 26.

When is Monahan going to play? He didn't get picked in my yahoo pool so I'm considering grabbing him off waivers.

Sutter has said from the beginning of camp that Monahan and Hanifin aren't going to play until the last few games.

The Flames have three preseason games left. I wouldn't be surprised to see them both start tonight.

No sense cutting him until the membership expires.

It feels like 5 pre-season games was way to many to learn who should be sent down. 8 pre-season games is absurd. Is this something they plan on keeping forever?
