Red Sox win, but the Yankees at least lost.

1 game back of Boston, 2 games back of the Yankees.

Go Angels plz

We pretty much need to win out and hope the Mariners and Red Sox choke? Who gets the spot if we tie with the Dirty Yankees?

Sweeping the O's and the Rays sweeping the Yankees isn't a crazy unrealistic scenario.

Of course, even if that happens it might end up Red Sox/Mariners as the wild cards because they are playing garbage teams to finish.

Yeah, we need a miracle.

Still in it. Crazier things have happened than a team like the red sox losing two games in a row.

I’m amused that the narrative today was that they should have pulled their ace after sitting down thirteen in a row when this forum has constantly ripped Montoyo for pulling starters every time earlier in the year. Go back two months, people brought up third time through the order and posters were told no you should go with gut and trust your ace. At the end of the day Ray didn’t deliver and hasn’t delivered recently.

Be amused all you want.

6.56 ERA vs the Yankees this year
.935 OPS third time thru the order

At the very least they should have somebody warming up at the start of that inning, and when Rizzo took him deep the hook should have been out, with Judge, Stanton, Torres, etc coming up.

####, Judge had already roasted Ray for a 430+ foot home run in that game.

It's not hindsight, it's common sense.

If he'd owned the Yankees this season then it wouldn't make sense, but they had kicked his ass all season and odds were they would get to him again, especially the third time through.

Ray may be our ace, and he may win the Cy Young, but not against the Yankees was he an ace this season. That has to be taken into consideration.

All those things were brought up earlier in the year and posters were ripped for suggesting it. Which says to me were just judging results and not decisions. And no you would not have someone ready to step in after one home run. Maybe I can agree for when Stanton was walked but if you have bullpen warmed up when your starter just went through four clean innings you’re going to burn your already thin bullpen. Judges home run was when the bullpen should have been warmed up and I think that is when Richards was started.

When your starter has a history of getting his face caved in by the team you're playing, and also has a history of getting his faced caved in the third time through the order, then it doesn't really matter who that starter is, you should be guarding against the likely scenario that he gets his face caved in, especially in a game that is pretty much a must win, and you are only winning 2-1.

Again, for 1000th time, that is not "hindsight". That information was available for all to see prior to the first pitch being thrown.

I don't know if I ever remember a team in need of a horseshoe removal in my life.

Seattle should lose for the silly fans holding up "believe" signs.

Angels hold on. Well, that's a bit of a choke from the Mariners.
