STFU, For the first time in years our best players might be able to play and know someone will stick up for them and they won't have to endure endless cheap shots from all the dinks around the league. When the points matter every time Mcewan plays the Calgary Flames he will always remember who's coming for him if he #####s with anybody he shouldn't.

So MacEwen needs to take the hit and move on...he didn't and Gudbranson did his job and tuned him in. Team was happy to kill that penalty. Coaches were thrilled.

A 2 min penalty in a preseason game with a 2 goal lead...WTF cares

How was Kyllington? I didn't even notice him tonight, but I wasn't paying as much attention as usual. How'd he look?

But it’s a jerk move bring him being a hockey writer into the discussion that has nothing to do with his actual writing, and to just use it as a jab against him.

You were trying to be snarky about his news tonight, and were being a jerk.

I was at the game and I am not sure what the TV feed showed, but MacEwan was clearly chasing Mackey for a fight after the clean hit. Don’t like fighting? Fine, but blame MacEwan because he was the instigator trying to start a fight. I mean does anyone think Gudbranson just took that on for giggles? He saw it a mile away and said “not on my watch”. It was brilliant.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Well I don't think Mangiapane would be centering the second line. But that combination of players yes.

If healthy Monahan is good, all the more reason for him to center his own line and help create a second threat on offense.

Zadorov's hit was a big turning point too...Canucks were busy trying to fight him for a clean hit and Backlund took advantage

Going to be interesting to see which bubble D get cut. Kylington and Mackey have both looked good, but Gudbranson is not getting cut (IMO) and Hanifin still hasn't played.

1. Hanifin
2. Andersson
3. Tanev
4. Zadorov
5. Valimaki
6. Gudbranson

So despite Kylington and Mackey both looking good, there is a chance neither make the opening day roster.

Good problem to have I guess.

For what we're paying him I would expect him to do more than just start fights.

I think the D will rotate a lot this season based on the opponent

If Kylington can't make the team after the pre-season he's had then what are we even doing here? He's arguably been their best defenceman.

This could turn into a part of their o-zone strategies.

Like something out of the Ted Lasso playbook if he made the transition to hockey.

I tried to watch him closely, good outlet passes and defended very good, a couple of times I thought he would take a low % chance and jump in the O zone but didn't, Sutter's influence I guess.

So far he's changed my opinion of him.

No I wasn't. I was trying to give him honest criticism.

I like Scorp. And I am happy for him, getting the opportunity he's getting. It's fantastic.

I was not snarky, I was not a jerk, and I sure as #### am not jealous.

Not sure what has gotten into your cornflakes, but you can gear down now.

Haven't dug deep into tonight's game yet but I rewatched the last one and I was able to pull out 16 different individual positive highlights from his game... and he had the best play-driving results of any Flame in that one.

Here's the link to all the videos. He was superb at both ends. https://twitter.com/miketgould/statu...98377958748161

He can certainly skate...he has also played the most which is good for him. He is the one trying to make the team though while most of the others are ramping up for game one. I'm not sure if he makes it day one but he will play this in the NHL this season.
