Agreed. Was hoping there might be a surprise push from one of the kids at forward (pelletier, zary, Phillips, ruzicka). Perhaps there's still hope for duer or pospisil?

I think he needs a year for his body to mature. There is a lot of like about his style of play and compete. Next year will be a more exciting year for prospects as Zary and Pelletier will be pushing for spots.
But you're right, this class of 'graduating' prospects is not exciting.

Didn’t Sutter say in one of his media sessions that he and Kylington think the game the same way? I’m still pretty optimistic about Kylington and I’m ecstatic they’re giving him ample opportunity this preseason.

Its telling that Valimaki, who clearly needs the reps and ice time, isn't getting it and Kylington is playing more and with the teams (arguably) #1 defenseman.

There are four more preseason games after this one, its fair to say that Sutter is spreading out to work load hoping that no one gets hurt. ( because 8 preseason games is 4 too many)

Kylington the story of camp so far. Not many people saw that coming, I know I didn't.
We'll see where it goes but IMO a good example that some of the pnotions around what Sutter wants are misguided.

Given how poor Valimaki has looked, he should be given more time not less regardless of games remaining.

Not saying he should get all 8, but he should get more time than Kylington and that isn't happening right now. Will it? Guess we'll see. But I'd get more reps in now before they get to those final 3 "opening day lineup" pre season games.

Actually I think it's more the case of Valimaki playing in all 3 games thus far. Kylington only got dressed for the last 2. After this game they will have the same number of games played.
I don't know how much of an audition it really is for Kylington with Tanev. I think once Hanifin returns he will be fighting for a spot on the 3rd pairing. However if Kylington can prosper with Tanev, that gives this team a lot of option when it comes to the D pairings.

I am pretty sure Valimaki isn't eligible to play this game because he has already played 3 consecutive preseason games.
