indeed. wow
Nils Ekman steps it up, replaces an ailing Ruslan Fedotenko on the 3rd line and has the game of his life. Both Nils Ekman (2 G 1 A) and Grant Marshall (1 G) score their first goals of the season. I was counting on one of these sub 70 clowns to score 16 goals this year for one of my sponsorship deals so I guess this is a start

Senators rebound to Win
After stumbling around these past 5 games the Senators finally get back into the Win Column with a 5-2 victory over the Flyers.
In a Shocking turn of events Turco manged to get into the game by taking out Designated started Pasi Nurminen and Hobbling into the net.
The Senators Coach obviously had a hunch about his Line combo's as well. Ignoring the lines the GM sent in. he Wisely Paried Capitan Joe up with Havlat and Bondra. Bondra responded by scoring 4 Goals to lead the team. Havlat had a goal and 2 assists in this game as well.
The other suprising fact coming out of this game. We managed to survive with out getting any more Injuries. . The same canot be said about the Flyers however.
Next up a game tomorrow vs the very tough Thrashers. Can Turco pull off another stunning apearence?. The smart money is on Pasi coming back to try and prove he can still be the Backup in Ottawa.

Islanders snap winless skid with victory
UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Eric Daze scored the lone goal in the third to lead the Islanders to a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.
It's a familiar storyline that the Islanders probably don't have a problem with, but on Wednesday night Eric Daze once again rose his play when it counted, this time putting the game-winning goal behind Bruins' goalie Mike Dunham at 15:04 of the third period to give the Islanders a much-needed two points, snapping a 4-game winless skid.
The unassisted goal, which came in the midst of an 0 for 8 Islanders run at the man-advantage saw Daze do all the work himself, stripping the puck from Bruins' defender Sergei Zubov at the Islanders' blueline on a nice poke-check, and eventually skating in all alone on Bruins' goalie Mike Dunham, finishing off the play with a pretty forehand-backhand deke, depositing the puck under the crossbar.
"It was a tight game," he said after the affair. "We're happy with the two points, but it's behind us now. We've got a game tomorrow night in Phoenix to worry about."
Since being acquired from the Calgary Flames at the end of November, the young winger has scored an amazing 7 goals in his first 9 games played, and has been on a point-per-game pace with 10 points in total and an impressive +5 rating. Of those 7 goals, 2 have been game-winners.
"I'm just happy to be here honestly," Daze smiled. "This is a great team to be on with a great bunch of guys in the locker room. I'm learning a hell of a lot from Vinnie (Damphousse)."
The Bruins opened the scoring with a wicked slap shot courtesy of defenceman Ken Klee only 57 seconds in to the opening frame, which ended with a seemingly dejected New York team, firing only 4 shots in the first 20 minutes.
Recently acquired winger Martin Rucinsky answered back with his 9th of the season in the second, with Mike Comrie and Filip Kuba who was acquired along with Rucinsky, getting the helpers.
The fans at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum then saw the teams exchange two goals in a span of less than 2 minutes with Demitra with his 15th for the Bruins, followed by Islanders' rookie Alexander Semin with his 3rd.
Islanders' goalie Dwayne Roloson was once again a pillar of consistency in his net, backstopping 25 of 27 shots for the win earning him the honour of being the 2nd star of the game. Eric Daze was given the 1st star with his 2 point performance and defenceman Adam Foote, who made his return to the lineup after a brief stint in the pressbox with a charlie horse was named the 3rd star finishing the game with one assist and a +2 rating.
The Islanders will now fly to Phoenix for a game against the Coyotes tomorrow evening.
Notes: The baby Islanders of Bridgeport also won on Wednesday night, obliterating the Providence Bruins by a score of 12-0. The team however was not all smiles after the game as 18 year old goaltender Eero Kilpelainen had to be helped off the ice by teammates after a collision with his own defenceman Tuukka Mantyla in the 1st period. Reports indicate that Kilpelainen will be sidelined for 2-4 months with a hip injury.

Choosing Brent Johnson over Andrew Raycroft was named as the key mistake that led to the loss to Sharks in previous game. This time mistake was fixed.
All but forgotten Andrew Raycroft posted his first shutout of the season and let Hawks win 3-0 over Toronto Maple Leafs by stopping all 30 shots directed at him. Raycroft also won his first 1st star award of the season.
Superstar Alexei Kovalev wasted no time and opened the score at 17:18 in 1st period with what turned out to be game winner. Kovalev used help from red-hot rookie Jiri Hudler and Hawks leading scorer Martin Erat. The letter had a great 2nd star night, as he scored a powerplay marker near the end of the game and kept Hawks powerplay goals streak alive.
Another goal came from 3rd star of the game Adam Hall, who made it 2-0 from McDonald and Bulis.
Hawks sensational penalty-killing unit killed all 10 (ten) powerplays for Leafs aand moved to 7th spot in league charts.
In his first game as Hawk Alexander Karpovtsev posted tremendous performance as he led all skaters in hits (5), all Hawks in ice time (26) and ended up with +1.
"That's a classic win", said Hawks GM Pointman. "Our top line combined for opening goal, out second line combined for second goal, out powerplay produced another goal, penalty killers kill gave up nothing and our defense and goalie posted shutout. Both newcomers, Kovalev and Karpovtsev were great. That's the way you wanna see it".
On the ugly side Hawks blueliner Mike Van Ryn was ejected and suspended for 3 games after injuring Tone Amonte.
Hawks are still .500 (3-3-0) after Hawks GM came back from the scouting trip at the beginning of Decemeber.
"Hawks are HOT", warned Pointman. "I realize that even hot Hawks are not much of a problem for most of the teams, but I'm stil glad to see Chicago leaving the 30th spot and playing steady .500 hockey lately. Hey, even our powerplay scored 3 in last 2 games".

Hasek had another poor performance letting in 4 goals on only 25 shots.
Lemieux woke up and got a goal and an assist.
Hopefully the acquistion of Cheechoo will spark the team.

Ahhh crap, Freddy B with another close loss. Although cant blaim this one on him. Looks like he had alot of rubber fired at him. This game ends the Wings 5 game unbeaten streak and yet again has us on the outside of a playoff spot. Although only 7 points out of first. Morrow again looking good aside from being bumped to the 2nd line. Although playing great as of late rumours around the CPHL have the Wings in closed door meetings with several teams.

One Better than None
Back to Back ties Suit Wild Just Fine
2 games, and 2 hard fought points. The Wild will take it.
Facing tough conference opponents Detroit Red Wings and Nashville Predators, the Wild should feel fortunate to salvage a point in both games, given that they were outplayed in both contests for stretches.
The latest result is a 4-4 tie against the Predators. The game featured a wide open first period with the teams combined for 26 shots and 6 goals. Indeed, for the first 20 minutes the story of the game looked to be back and forth hockey coupled with shaky goaltending.
However, much to everyone’s surprise both teams tighten up for the remaining 45 minutes and both goalies found their form. It took a third period goal by recently acquired Rob Niedermayer to salvage the point for the Wild, who remain in second in the conference.
The Wild also received goals from Andrew Brunette, Brian Rafalski, and Brendan Morrison. Head Coach and GM Grant Farhall praised some of his players for stepping up.
“Andrew and Rob really came through tonight. Andrew’s been asked to center our second line and is doing it really well. Robbie is more of a checker but playing top 6 minutes, he needs to pot some goals until David (Legwand) is back. Tonight he did just that”.
The Wild play next tomorrow against the Canucks. They received good news as captain Willie Mitchell will be back in the lineup after missing two games with a minor injury. David Legwand remains out but is now listed as day to day. Jocelyn Thibault is expected to get the start.
Game Notes-The Wild went 0 for 1 on the PP falling to 2nd in the league. However, their PK unit killed off 5 chances and remain in first place.
-Scotty Hannan had another strong night with 2 assists, and a team leading 5 hits.
-Mike Wilson continued to show nothing to Wild management to suggest he can play on the team going –2 in 10 minutes of ice time.
-Andre Roy was back in the lineup but did not take a shift.

Calgary>>The Devils went to Cowtown looking for some revenge on their former gm; instead they got kicked around and lost the game 4-3 to a good Flames team. The Devils were badly out shot again tonight this time by 10 shots, 29-29 by the Flames. The Flames opened the scoring just 3 seconds into the game with along shot that Nabokov would have liked back. “Those shots have to be stopped all the time…any goal from outside the blue line is unacceptable” said GM Walsh following the game.
The Devils got goals from Nik Hagman, Mark Recchi, and Andrew Cassels who has now scored in 3 straight games. Recchi’s goal was his team leading 17th goal of the year, while Teemu Selanne added 2 assists. The Flames goals came from: Tkachuk, Blake, Spacek, and Brind’amour.
The Devils penalty killing had been quite successful the past few games but it let the Devils down today by giving up 2 goals on 8 Calgary power plays. This may have been because the Devils started the game without defenseman Andrew Ference, and lost Murray Baron at 14:51 of the first period. Both defenseman are listed as day to day and will not play tomorrow against the Wings. The Devils have recalled both Martin Grenier, and Matt Walker, who played in today’s game.
