Meh, losses aren't a bad thing to me. I'll cheer for wins but understand losses will provide this team more benefit in the long run.

Would like to see Kylington and Tanev remain a pairing into the regular season

Interesting. They brought in a lot of big D with less mobility this off season
Wouldn’t be surprised if he is thinking pairings with a steady stay at home guy paired with a mobile guy (Like Sarich / Gio, Regehr / Bouw (or whomever))
If Sutter likes what Kylington can do, and he can be paired with a trustworthy guy, it could turn out quite well for him
Edit: so I can see merit in Scorp’s post a few above

The pattern is familiar...
Be terrible in the preseason...lose the opener...slow-ish october, fire November...half the years we fade out of the playoffs, the other half we sneak in to be bounced in the first round...15yrs later here we are.
Emotions of the "smart" fans, is preseason doesn't matter... evolving to it's the first game and its a long season...lets see where the team is after American thanksgiving / 20games...we shouldn't do anything at the deadline (then we trade 2nd-4th rounders) so it turns to, that part of the draft is unlikely to produce an NHLer, its a good depth deal (actually 10-20% chance you get an NHLer in those rounds)...then after the 1st round / garbage bag day, its right into PDO/ GF&GA chat / look at the rest of the league its a bounce here or there away...the draft hits and the cycle starts all over again.
My solution...we demand this franchise stops giving away mid rounders, stops spending capital on former mid rounders to fill out an NHL ready roster and we get back to what made us successful in the 80's / 90's with the learning that our franchise needs to be built by having more than 7picks in each draft, and spending our capital on our top talent not FAs or plugs that should be coming from our system. If our system isn't good enough to supply perimeter talent, well then we're bad until the system catches up. Also spend money on top coaching talent as that matters, quit scraping the bargain bin (happy with Sutter's hire as that is what we need).

I don’t think you can isolate that as the reason.
That Stone turnover was pretty darn unforced.
The first two goals were clearly not good, but he settled down nicely
How about that left pad save where he stretched out? Splendid

Rich Preston was sitting a few rows behind me tonight scouting. Anyone have any idea if he is still scouting for the Ducks or if he has joined the Flames? There was no entry on elite prospects for 2021-22 yet.

Lots of teams can't pick up for free but can trade for a guy. You're a fan of the NHL, you should know that.

Stop going to games. Stop buying merch. Twitter posts...call in shows...letters to the editor...webpages...banners at the games...if it takes throwing jerseys on the ice, well I don't condone it or want it, but it has been effective...etc etc.
I get it that we're not the owners of the franchise, or the GMs...what can we do. I counter that timeless argument with the fact it has never been easier for a fan to show their displeasure with management of their favourite sports franchise.

So we stop going to the games and stop buying merch... But then we have to go to the games to show our banners then throw our purchased merch on the ice?

All I want is Kylington in the top 6 and Gudbranson #7 or 8 on the chart.
Not worried about Stone as a regular, we know he can be solid and cut out most of those gaffes.

They worked together nicely.
Would allow Hanifin to be the "responsible" partner for another guy if he can come back strong from his surgery recovery.
It was encouraging to see an improvement from Andersson out there too. We need him to be "boom" Andersson this season and not the imposter that was wearing his number in the spring.

Maybe we can get Hamonic to retire and trade Gudbranson to vancouver?

I think we all know where Kylington's career trajectory is going:
Kylington will turn into a strong pro ala Anton Stralman after he's traded for a bag of pucks.
Gubrandson is the new Staffan Kronwall.
Flames never learn.

Just watched the rest of the game as I was only able to watch the first 2 periods live.
Kylington looked great. Coleman seems like a real SOB, which I like.

Stop going to games and buying merch won't change the way the organization is run, it will just chase the team out of town.

Or...they could just give their customers what they want. A young exciting team.
The city is paying half of an arena, the club is cap maxed despite being mediocre and the Calgary flames region keeps growing in population with no chance of another team or pro sport to compete for entertainment dollars.
Even better my proposal is cheaper on the operating budget as part of it is to cap the team $10-15m under the salary cap so we pay our stars top dollar, but stop spending money on late 20s players to fill roles and build those roles through mid round picks. If we're top 5 in GF/GA then we can spend to the cap to go for it and deal picks.
Plenty of fanbases have risen up and demanded change. Why not us?
