Should have been Andrew Walker. Worked both markets and has an abrasive personality that offsets how boring and appropriate Rintoul was.

Regarding Overtime, you just can’t run an open time frame call in show outside of the playoffs where people are invested, emotional and there’s lots of callers.

For the regular season, it should have been an hour at most and likely a half hour. Caller calls in, makes their point and then you disconnect the call and comment on the callers opinion. The feedback loop of circular comments and 10 minute arguments with drunk people really took away from the show. Kerr was much better at cutting things short. Strindberg is way too nice and let’s things carry on.

On top of that, from a straight HR perspective. The show makes no money and Steinberg ends up accruing so much OT that he has to take the entire summer off when they’re struggling for content and running with an amateur hour crew.

Was shocked they didn’t make this change long ago.

Oh great just what we need. A Torontocentric Hockey show from 10:00 to noon to follow hours of morning NHL talk with Boomer and Pinder. At least the Rintoul show discussed CFL, tennis, etc. Shame for Rintoul as I thought he was pretty good but Surman wasn't up to the task of carrying a daily show. I imagine Rogers has to keep 960 going for it's Flames obligations but you have to wonder about it's future.

Serious question, why doesn't someone on CP start one? Guarantee would get more listeners than fan960. Doesn't have to be a huge show or even a 24 hour station even 4-6 hours a day with some local advertisements.

Overtime was sometimes 15 minutes long. It was the usual callers and that was it.

Yeah, and it can make money. CP already has the audience and pretty much free advertising. Don't see why it can't be successful.

So many unhappy fan960 listeners but we have no choice. Will be a hard first few years but I can see it being very successful. I bet with all the CP users we could raise a significant amount of money as well.

Don't we already have a guy here who runs his own podcast? It can happen just need a few people willing to make it happen.

Ahhh...this sucks. I'm a regular caller and will miss the show. I was looking forward to another year coming up and it was coming up soon. I've had some good calls and a few disasters but it was fun none the less. It was my regular routine after every game most times and if I didn't call that night, I always listened. Even though maybe a couple of us didn't see eye to eye, or maybe even was annoyed by eachother, it was like my side dysfunctional family.

The Rintoul show was pretty safe and vanilla when it was just him. When they brought in Surman, it became unlistenable. Perhaps with a better co-host, Rintoul could've still worked, but I'm not surprised it got cut.

I did like the idea of having a non-Calgary, but still Western Canadian, perspective on sports. I hope they don't completely abandon that.

Also let's be clear here: 960 is a Calgary Flames media outlet. You will never hear any sort of direct criticism of the team on the station. Doug Barkley did it and was booted pretty well the next day. Same with Mike Rogers.
