Injuries can be used as an excuse for why and individual player has a bad season, not for a team. All teams go through them and the good ones adjust. We have been remarkably healthy during his tenure. The only thing that handcuffed Treliving this offseason is his poor decision making in the past

Yeah that's my posting history. I don't like to be challenged. Good grief.
What a week.
I've said about two dozen times that there are numerous reasons to want Treliving gone. Michael Stone isn't one of them.

Is it really a rental if he’s still here 7 years later?
Point is they didn’t need Stone (or Hamonic) if they just played Brodie on his natural side. Wideman shouldn’t have even been in the lineup period if it weren’t for the idiotic decision to break up the leagues best top pair. Focus always should have been finding Dougie a partner

So what’s the issue then? You post something, someone disagrees and says why, sounds like a forum to me.
I agree that he has done a dozen WORSE things than trading for/overpaying for/buying out/re-signing Stone but that’s not exactly a ringing endorsement.
It’s his player evaluation that makes me want him gone (long ago). He literally knew Stone better than anybody in the league and still overpaid him. How is that a sign of a good GM? Why wouldn’t you want that guy gone?

By natural side you mean his offside? I also agree that the re-signing of Stone was a mistake especially after going hard after Hamonic but the initial trwde worked out unbelievably good.
Idiotic decision to break up the leagues best top pair yet Gio-Hamilton were considered an even better pair once they were put together?
This is hardly even worth discussing as Treliving’s worst moves. Hamonic was so much worse than Stone it is not even debatable.

So big changes going into this season compared to last:
Gone are
Bennett, Ryan, Nordstrom, Simon, Giordano, Nesterov
In are
Coleman, Pitlick, Lewis, Richardson, Zadorov, Gudbranson
Is Coleman/Pitlick/Lewis/Richardson better than Ryan/Bennett/Nordstrom/Simon?
Is Zadorov/Gudbranson better than Giordano/Nesterov?

In my opinion this is really the first time since they tore down the Iginla/Kipper era that I think the team got worse on paper during the offseason.

Largely because of his health problems. He was initially very good for the team
Regardless they traded a 3rd and a 5th for a guy that has played over 200 games for the club. Doesn't seem bad.

No disagreements there he played well. But it took 4 seasons and $10 mil to get good hockey out of the guy in a bottom pairing role
Are we really giving a pass for our GM falling in love with a mediocre player that he had to buyout? How is Michael Stone possibly not on Brad’s list of blunders?

What are you basing this on? Up until last season he was one of the worst players analytically in the league
His best play came after his health problems

Welcome to Canadian Hockey Team fandom. Where you better not ever trade a draft pick, but if you do the player you get better get 50 goals next year. Oh, he had 49? Fail! Fire the GM, Coach, Equipment Manager, Usher, Zamboni Driver and all popcorn concession staff!

The buyout is completely irrelevant since we kept the player. We've paid Stone the same amount he would've gotten in 2019-20 alone in 2019-20 and 2020-21 combined, basically getting a free year compared to if we hadn't bought him out.
You can say it was a bad contract, but the buyout was actually a really great way to handle it.

Natural side as in his preferred side where he plays better yes
Gio/Hamilton obviously worked fine, they were top pairing defenseman, but not as good as Gio/Brodie. Gio has had two Norris quality seasons and both were with Brodie
Again, I don’t think Brad making a worse move a few months later someone makes the entire Stone saga a pass. But yes I don’t think anyone disagrees the Hamonic move was worse in terms of long term detriment to the club. But that’s just sort of more reasoning to want him gone. He’s not a good talent evaluator

It wasn't. Some people like to get worked up about anything. The initial trade was quite fair, if not good.

That one is an easy no. We really have a top 3, and have to shoehorn a bottom 5-6 guy into the top 4. Hopefully a young one makes a move.

I think many of us just get tired of the day to day Treliving is an idiot grind.
There are more relevant conversations about Treliving and where the team is than starting a Michael Stone witch hunt in the Trades and Rumours topic.
We honestly only need one topic because most of them get moved to why Treliving has to go anyway.

Trust me, I would love to never have to talk about Treliving again
But he’s still fully in charge of the franchise and doing stuff like bringing in Gudbranson, leaving the captain exposed in an expansion draft, trading picks for expensive depth etc so unfortunately he’s going to be a topic of discussion in most threads

Is there a fresh take on any of that though?
Did you hear that he traded a 2nd for Lazar!
That hasn't been talked about AT ALL for several years
