To me this is the conundrum with rain gear. If it is raining that hard, are you even leaving for the course? But if you are on 12 and it starts, you would probably like to finish and be somewhat comfortable.
I bought some Addias pants on sale this year for $100 and I had an addias jacket - so it does look like a kit. The jacket is flexible as the sleeves have two zips so it can be a jacket, wind shirt or vest.
Have not had to test the pants this year though, so no comment on how good they are.

I just bought one of those Galvin Green jackets but they were 40% at Golf Town. Still expensive but it's really nice and I also live in Vancouver where I can wear it often, even if not golfing.

Finished my season at Kananaskis yesterday. Shot a somewhat/almost honest 104 with 6 lost balls, so basically a normal round this year. Seemed like I had one bad shot each hole that sewered any chance to score but considering I haven't swung a club since July it wasn't too bad.
Great way to end the season, the only negative was the asshat who drove into us on the first hole (!!) and then proceeded to swear at the couple we were paired with. I'm not sure how you can hit into someone on the first hole when the starter is controlling things but at least you could apologize rather than blame the guy and his wife who's cart was hit for not moving fast enough.

Kidd or Lorette?
That's really odd to get driven into at that place. I find the starters there quite annoying and won't let you on the tee before you are good to go.

Lorette. It was certainly a head scratcher. I can live with it if it was not intentional and an apology offered but the guy essentially blamed us and took no responsibility whatsoever.

thanks for being honest about your scorecard lubicon as that is about where i am generally at - although i was worse scorewise at blue devil on sunday.
i would have had 1 lost rock, but a guy i was with had a retriever and was able to fish my ball out of the water on 15 - so with no lost balls, i guess i was really bad....maybe my next round is where it all comes together

Tonight was our men's league windup. We played 9 holes and then all got together for dinner and the handing out of league prizes.
I finished the year long points standings in 7th place and won a credit of $400 towards any Talyormade product.
Won the 50/50 also which was $140 that I ended up splitting with the young gal in our proshop. I made a promise with her at the start of the season that she would get half if I ever won.

Meant to elaborate on putting earlier, as it's become by far the strongest part of my game. 15-40 feet and I can almost always get it close enough to make the next one.
And to be honest of all the lessons, anecdotes and rules to follow, I will tell anyone that will listen, my two biggest factors are literally just repetition and feel. As a beginner who was aggressive, coming up short was a huge gain for me. But then I just putted and putted and putted and got a feel for how to putt.

It sounds stupidly simple, but honestly when it comes to putting just go to a putting green and putt, putt, putt, to the point where you just know where your ball will go every time, with speed and undulation being the only difference when you're on a new course (but your feel and repetition allow you to figure it out really quick).
Just know what happens when that ball leaves your putter with any given strength and then play by feel. Maybe it's bad advice, I don't know, but it's served me so much better than rules and tricks and all that. I don't even think about how many inches past or anything, I just see the hole and know what it takes to get near it and go.
Where most guys go for a certain distance past, sometime I come up short and just go "**** me I should have hit that harder" and then tap in for par or bogey or whatever and move on.

I think putting is such a big part of golf, but most people I know will hit shot after shot on the range with every club trying to figure out every distance and shot type, and then spend like 4-5 minutes on putting before a round, if that. And it shows on the course.
Sweet, you can land your 8 iron on the green from 140 within 30 feet of the hole. Then you get up there and hack putt it 12 feet past, then come up 3 feet short, now you've used three strokes on the green. I don't like the term "drive for show, putt for dough", because driving is crucial too, but definitely understand the importance of putting and put the appropriate time into it.
Even as a good putter I can still see rounds where an off day of 5-8 foot second putts, or bad first putts is easily 5-6 strokes on an 82-86 round, as opposed to the 2-3 stokes I'll lose on 2-3 bad drives.

Once that new member discount is up. Feel free to look at Butte National. It's worth the drive especially with the savings

Hey Lubicon. I'm playing that course for the first time this weekend and shoot a similar score to you. Just trying to decide what tees to play and wondering what you did and if you'd change it

Any suggestions for a putting matt that isn't $200+? I don't think I can stomach that cost, especially when I'll be putting it in my basement and I'm not even 100% sure the ground is perfectly level anyway.

sorry, I forgot I got it for around 40% off at the time.
I'll dig around and see what other suggestions there.

Grr, got my 13yo son fitted at Golf Galaxy 3 months ago, and finally got his irons in. They put him in p790s with Aldila flex. I thought they felt a little light and flexy for him and also for a fairly heavy club head. Well, he took them out today and started getting a good feel for the 6 iron, and on about his 20th shot the club head went about 100 yards down the driving range.

TM is really good at warranty. I wouldn't worry.

I'm sure they'll repair it. As soon as we took them out of the box, it just really felt like the L flex shafts were way too light and flexy for that club, and he's swinging harder than he did 3 months ago at the fitting. I can't imagine he can stay in that shaft and not be constantly breaking clubs.
