Just 1 rough game, really.
2-1-1 in the other 4, .922 SV%.

Yup. For all the hype that I've read about Phillips, we was completely invisible except for when he got called for the stick lift

I bet Gudbranson suspected he's regressed to PTO status by late August.
Thankfully the Flames came round with a couple mil to throw at him all cause of the toughness asterisk next to his name.
Okay now I've gotten that out, I hope he proves me wrong.

He won't prove you wrong. He is literally the worst player I've ever watched aside from Chris Butler.

Nice. Looks like that one blowout loss covered up an otherwise solid audition.
I'm even more encouraged.

Well they did give the opportunity to rookies that actually stood out in camp. Valimaki, Dube, Tkachuk, and so on. You simply need to show you are much better than the vets, and the vets will be moved/waived. The reason a rookie needs to be heads and shoulder above a vet is because typically a rookie has a lot less consistency in his game.
A case could be made for injecting prospects into the line up, because there's often more hustle and energy. Mangiapane, and Hathaway were examples of injecting such energy. However, I don't see it from any of the prospects so far.

I have liked the lucic line and the Flames playing a heavy game. It does look very much like pre-season. A lot of plays a step behind or off target. Flames have had zero second chance opportunities making it an easy night for the Oilers.
Echo the thoughts that Phillips struggled, even though the penalty on him was uber weak.
Hope for a better second, but nice to be watching hockey.

Going to start counting the number of passes Gudbranson successfully makes out of his own zone or to another player who has a clear exit path.
I suspect it'll be on one hand by the end of the night.

Someone tell Derek Wills that the home reds are no longer the "retro Jerseys."

No, seriously. What is the black stuff on Vladar's mask. Some of it looks like hair.

Good thing about these penalties is that most of these players will log some PK time if they make the team.
