Dechambeau just hit a drive into a green side bunker....393 yards away and it was still cooking.
Simply unbelievable.

Disappointing, but not shocking, that this thing is over already. Probably the weakest European team in a long while.

I mean America has pretty much 9 of the 10 best players in this event on their side. I'd be happy for a comeback but this appeared to be a pretty lopsided event on paper, and so far has been pretty lopsided. Maybe the Americans choke, but that's what it's gonna take. I could definitely see this being a total laugher with a 19-9 score.

It’s always lopsided on paper but I agree, this one more so. A lot of Americans playing great, I just don’t see this being close.
Considering how young that American team is, they look good for a while. Players like Cantlay peaking, DJ playing to his ability… It’s hardly a fair fight right now.

I PVRd the matches today, was it noteworthy enough to go back and watch? How was the drama?

There was some incredible golf played. Only a couple of matches made it to 18.

Largest day 1 lead in almost 50 years.
It would be a monumental collapse for the US to lose.
It would be epic theater mind you.

Americans already three up thru three in two matches this morning. Gotta think the modern record of 18.5-9.5 is under threat here, US might get to 20 with how they are rolling.

I enjoy a team format like the Ryder Cup because it brings in a different mentality and game play but the American fans at the course are very close to making the event unwatchable. I understand cheering on your team but the way they attack the European players at times is pretty brutal. I'm impressed with the restraint that some of these players have as quite a few of the fans deserve a solid punch.

Really?
I think this has been quite calm compared to other Ryder Cups.
The Euro fans are notoriously brutal depending where the matches are played.
just part of the whole spectacle.

I was gonna say isn't that a big part of what we love about the event? That it's the only golf event that has a true "away" team and thus makes for a much more hostile and lively environment?

Yeah, this has been a tame Ryder Cup crowd comparatively.

In general this has been a pretty tame Cup, few truly competitive matches and the gulf in class is quite obvious to see.

USA going to be up 6 by end of the morning. They can’t mathematically clinch today but it’s over.

You said it Strange Brew, the American team is so young (and at the same time the European team so lacking in young stars) that we could be entering a period of American dominance. But at the same time this is where the crowd can be such a great equalizer in this event, Europe is gonna need some hostile crowds to try and keep things close.

A guy like Hovland gives Europe hope for the future but right now Europe has Rahm and US has about 7 players in his class.
The crowd is an equalizer and sometimes great players aren’t playing well coming into the Ryder Cup which can equalize things. This year for the Americans most of them are playing great.
Full marks to the US. They would maybe beat any Ryder Cup team of the last 40 years.

The next Ryder cup is in Rome. That might be nuts.
