Fleury much better today. First line has been meh. Kubalik with a strong effort which is great.

Who knows though...my pre season last year was good and then the guys that were good were awful in regular season haha.

Darn. Got shutout. Not the best penalty kill as well. Switched in Jankowski, since his DF rating was better. Will probably leave him in for a few games and tweak other lines

I think they'll suck in the regular season too! But I was fiddling around with the strategies for lines and I pumped Erik Johnson's pairing to almost all offence and he finished a -4.

For the old timers on here do you guys typically leave it all twos or change the numbers around? Does it make a big difference?

I think it’s common to change the numbers around but I’m not sure why you’d ever make a defense pairing 0D and 4O, kinda defeats the whole purpose of defence lol. If you’re trying to really score goals you should be doing that with your forwards if anything

I spent a lot of time trying to manipulate the SIM to try and unlock it's mysteries. This is just my opinion and there are no facts to back it up

If you notice you can set your strategies for the line 1CK 2DF 2OF but there's also another setting for team play when up or down by X goals. How can there be two different strategies/ Why? my conclusion is that settings are attribute boosts?

Ballenced setting +1CK +2DF +2OF
Barzal - 57CK 65DF 77SC

Checking setting +5CK 0DF 0OF
Barzal - 61CK 63DF 75SC

Deffence 0CK +5DF 0OF
Barzal - 56CK 68DF 75SC

Offence setting 0CK 0DF +5OF
Barzal - 56CK 63DF 80SC

This is why you may not see a drastic result when setting 5DF, because even with a +5 Barzal is still only a 68DF. Yes it helps him a bit but compared to Lowery 86 with a +2. You'll never notice it directly as playing better defence

Its was the only logical reasoning I could come up with that could explain all the different setting. One of the greatest mistakes we make with SIM's is that we apply them with real how the game is played... they are just numbers and not overthinking it makes a lot more sense

So to answer the question above why someone would play a defenceman with 5OF. if you already have the top Defensive rating then having +2 to it doesn't improve you as much as maybe a +5 to his offence

I has a sim question. I'm setting my line up at 20 scratching players that aren't playing, generating the line, saving the file and sending it in. But when I look at the results I have 25 players playing. Am I missing something on scratching players?

When you look at the actual lines, are they the correct lines you made? I'm wondering if the SIM is resetting it

One thing I would try is set the roster and lines for more than the one game

In the ROSTER's setting when you save it click COPY ALL ROSTERS. This will copy your roster lineup to the next 10 games. If you do the same in the lines tab and COPY ALL LINES. This may help the amount of fixing you have to do each game

Don't worry you can adjust your lines for each game, I just set this so in case the SIM has an error and changes my lines I can load my last lineup file and all the work is done, I don't have to redo anything. The only thing I may need to fix it if there happened to be an injury

This shouldn't solve your problem but I am curious if this avoids whatever your issue seems to be

I don't see your lines in the inbox. Did you send them and if so to what email address?

What if I turn up the defense on everyone? Basically play the trap. Is that frowned upon here? Is it considered cheap or is it fair game?
