“ The Arizona Coyotes hope to see water return to the portion of the dry Salt River where the project would sit and say the team's proposal could be a catalyst for that to happen in the future.”
They’re literally saying an arena project will bring back water to the desert.
Shame is dead.

That's not what they are saying. They are hoping to see water return to a dry section of the Salt River, a section intentionally kept dry by the water management districts. With them creating a new entertainment district, they are hoping they will see an expansion of the wet zone, much like what is at the "lake" district for downtown Tempe and ASU.
With the Colorado watershed in difficulty, and water rationing being in the cards for the southwestern states, it is unlikely that this would happen, at lease for the next two to three years. I could see Tempe lobbying for the waterfront to be expanded, but it just doesn't seem likely with the current state of water politics in the SW.

That seems barely less reprehensible.

I guess we'll see what they do with the space, which, again, has nothing to do with the event centre. Just because there isn't a building there doesn't mean it will be dead space. I find it confusing that you hold both the position that CMLC was a key component in activating the surrounding space and their removal was an issue, but you don't trust them now to activate the surrounding space which they are still responsible for.
The entrance was always going to be there. It's been there in every rendering since the very first. Put it where you're suggesting and you move it an additional two blocks further from the BMO when the whole area is meant to be a cohesive district. Instead of being in the middle of the cultural and entertainment district, it's then at the very edge next to the residential district. It just doesn't make sense.

? There could still be an entrance there obviously, it's just the public activation that is in a stupid spot.
The BMO centre is the problem, it's loading docks are oriented towards that corner. There's not really much anyone can do about that.

There is a Dam not far ahead. For ambiance, etc they'll work on adding a Dam and extending the Tempe Town Lake.
But hilarious post either way.

They would just need to open the dam at Roosevelt Lake to get down to Tempe. Doesn't have much to do with the Colorado. But I'm not an expert!
Tempe literally drained the entire lake just a couple of years ago to clean up the lake bottom of garbage

Roosevelt is part of the Lower Colorado River Basin. So yeah, it has everything to do with it. And no, it isn't as easy as just opening the dam. They have water resources to manage and filling a lake for a real estate development is hardly a wise plan when Arizona is facing water shortages for the next three years. When they are turning off the taps for agriculture, a lake near a shopping district is going to be a very hard sell to not only the Bureau of Reclamation, but tax payers, and people who need water.

They did that because the dam used to create the lake was on the verge of failure. Cleaning up the bottom was just a benefit of the process. There is a reason why there are many organizations who want to see Tempe Town Lake disappear for ever. With the challenges Arizona is going to face with water in the future, those voices might finally win their fight.

They Glendale ever give any tangible reason for kicking out the Coyotes?
It seems odd to have this high end arena and no permanent tenant in it. Were they losing money trying to prop up the team or something?

Guessing the Yotes fan doesn’t have his own discussion board?

Because nobody cares about the Coyotes, and they took up 41+ dates a year that could’ve been better allocated to anything else.

Filling up a large, shallow vanity lake with drinking water in the middle of the desert does sound like America though.

So he could discuss the team with like 38 other fans? Probably not.

Johnny Waterkins over here
But thank you for the information.
I don’t see this being make or break to anything but more of a, sure that would be nice!
I pass by this location daily on the way into downtown Phoenix and the overall architecture definitely fits in with the rest of the lakefront.
I still think this is very unlikely and I don’t have a lot of hope because, Coyotes…. But this ownership group is doing this right so far, along with pretty much everything else team related.
Ps,
Why are people butthurt about posts like this? CP is a Flames board but has ALWAYS covered the NHL as a whole. Considering The Flames are mid arena plans seeing another plan in the league may be applicable right?

Call me when Glendale fills more than 10 extra dates in 2022 - it’s not going to happen.

And yet, nobody will know if they do or not... because nobody cares.

AFAIK he's a Calgarian living in AZ.
Still though, I think it speaks to the quality of CP when non-Flames fans join it instead of HF or other boards.
I say we welcome them.

Oh I’m not bothered. I and others just like giving him a hard time. Like a nephew or a little brother.

I wonder if having the arena unavailable for 40+ nights a year was locking them out of other better options (concerts etc.).
That was the issue with the Aeros in Houston. The owner of the arena was sick of having prime weekend dates booked by a tenant who wasn't paying top dollar, even though it was giving them some occupancy.
