Ehhh, the hatred Novak already got was mostly irrational and based on primarily Fed and Nadal fans hating him (and since they make up a strong majority of all fans...). I don't see that changing much, if anything they're mostly thrilled with yesterday's result, and Novak again gave more reason to not like him with the racquet smash. But Novak is at his absolute best when everyone hates him, so perhaps he needs to up his hate factor for next year.

What is shocking is the level that was required to take this major with one of the big 3 playing. The previous US Open final was comparatively a joke with Zverev and Thiem basically handing the match to each other over and over. Medvedev had to absolutely play the match of his life for 95% of this (there was 1-2 wobbly service games that I can pinpoint) outing to get it done.
At this point Medvedev would have to be the favourite to upset Novak in Australia. It would be nice to see him stonewall Novak until the French Open and Wimbledon where we can all hope that Nadal and Federer may be able to give it one final go at a major.

28, not 29... I'm assuming that Bianca will take some time off before Indian Wells. Leylah might play Chicago?

Bianca is currently in the Chicago WTA entry list (of course, her injury status will dictate whether or not she plays as Indian Wells is the big carrot).

Interesting. No Barty. Maybe in Europe?
Presumably both Emma and Leylah will end up playing.

Leylah - Emma crushed the Banjo Bowl as far as tv ratings are concerned.
Fernandez made an improbable run to the final at Arthur Ashe Stadium, which holds over 23,000, and Canada was behind her sending positive energy through TV sets across the country. Her match against Toronto-born, British 18-year-old Emma Raducanu started at 4 p.m. ET and attracted an average audience of 1,173,900 on TSN1.
That match-up started at the same time as Winnipeg hosting Saskatchewan in the 17th annual Banjo Bowl on TSN3. After nearly one million fans tuned into the 56th Labour Day Classic, viewership dropped by over 400,000 for the prairie rivals clashing at a sold out IG Field. Even though the score was tight at halftime, the Blue Bombers knocked out Cody Fajardo and ran away with a 33-9 win.

So Tennys Sandgren was disqualified from a Challenger event in North Carolina as he took a ball in the nether region from an overexuberant ball kid and then proceeded to smack said ball which hit a linesperson in the butt. The video in the second tweet below isn't great, but captures the incident.

Just thought I'd add that the Netflix doc on Mardy Fish (Untold: Breaking Point) is very well done.

I totally agree with this. I thought it was excellent and gave some great insights into Fish but also Roddick and American tennis at the time. If Roddick played in any other era he is a multiple Grand Slam champ.
As they said, what happened to American tennis? Answer: Federer

Followed by a guy named Nadal and then followed by somebody named Djokovic.
/That 2009 Wimbledon final was epic, Andy came oh so close to major #2
