Lol, “Blue Jays in 30” doesn’t show a single out of the game, until the very last out of the game.
Didn’t even get in all of the Jays runs scoring.

Wow. I had to double take at the score. Was driving home from Creston and didn't have a good enough signal to listen in.
What a beatdown

On August 27th, the Jays and Yankees records were:
NYY: 76-52
TOR: 66-61 (9 1/2 games back)
Since then, their records are :
NYY: 3-12
TOR: 14-2
Who would have guessed back on the 27th, that the Jays would beat the Yankees to 80 wins? Incredible

Sweep the 6 games against the Rays and there's a shot at the division

Is there a douchier infield than the Mets? If I were rounding the bases I'd wanna punch every one of them in the face. Alonso, Baez, Lindor, and Villar. Gross.

No, he's just the best power hitter in the game.
Go ahead and ask him, he'll tell you all about it.

I really, really, really hope they can do something like this to the Rays next. That would be grand.

Don't want to get cocky for the Rays, but its hard not to want to right now given our recent stretch and fact even the Rays dropped 2 of 3 to the Tigers. But I know all it takes is a couple game slide to go from WC1 spot to out of the race at this point, so Jays bats need to stay hot. Problem is the Rays' pitching is night and day to the Os, so our pitching is actually going to have to show up (after taking the O series completely off).
Fact we are in that first WC spot boggles the mind to see, almost don't believe it when I see it

Staying hot is easier said than done. What's the old saying?... momentum lasts as far as tomorrow's starting pitcher?
And today they get Jay-killer Ryan Yarbrough.

When you look at the Rays, they really do squeeze every ounce of water from a stone when they squeeze it. They have 3 guys over 100 innings pitched and two of them are Yarborough and Wacha who both have bad numbers on the year. Yet as a staff, they have very good numbers. Even on offence they're 12th in Average, 11th in OBP, 7th in SLG, and 6th in Home Runs, but they've translated that into being first in runs. The Jays after this weekend are 2nd, 4th, 1st, and 1st...2nd in total runs.
Tampa is also top 10 in three major pitching categories of ERA, Batting Average against, and WHIP as a team ranking 6th, 10th, and 4th whereas the Jays are 10th, 11th, and 10th.
Somehow Tampa has found a way to get all their numbers to add up to better overall results on the season.

Good points.
I think a surprising amount of the W/L difference is the Jays had at least 10 of those games earlier in the season where the bullpen "snatched defeat from the jaws of victory". Not necessarily blown saves, but games where we were up when the relievers came in and lost us the game.
The Rays' above average bullpen allowed those games to be saved, which seems to be the difference in records, given Jays are better in almost every other offensive metric and fairly similar in overall pitching metrics.

Jays up to +147 in run differential. Yankees are +27.
Remarkable turnaround, yes, but the law of averages over a 162-game season seems to be playing itself out.
Gonna need the bullpen this week against the Rays. It'll be a good barometer of the Jays playoff readiness.
