That all changed when my 84 year old mother passed away last night as she lost the battle with congestive heart failure and A fib. Her body was worn out and it was time.
I heard her yell that she needed help to sit up in bed. I asked what she wanted to do and she walked a few steps and grabbed on to her walker and sat down. Right then her head slumped down and her body started to go limp and she slumped over to her right side and slumped forward. I caught her and we both gently fell on the bedroom carpet. I looked into her eyes as we layed side by side asking her what was wrong. She couldn't speak and I watched her breathing become shallow and her eyes to flicker. I could see the life draining from her eyes as I was talking with a woman from 911 and then she was gone. Fire and ambulance were there a few minutes later and dispite their heroic efforts they couldn't save her.
I will always remember her face and eyes as she slowly passed away. I was devistated but knew that she knew that she didn't die alone and I was happy she got to see my loving face before she passed on. The bond we shared during the struggles of the past 4 weeks are memories that I will always take with me.
Never forget to tell a loved one that you love them. Thanks for letting me talk.

This had me in tears Dion. I read "I Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch to all of my kids when they were babies and I cried every time. This beautiful story of your love for your Mom reminds me of that book.

My mother read that book to me too.
She passed away at home with her family around her this January and that was my first thought.

I’m sorry for your loss.
I don’t read much and missed this.
Very well spoken Chris, I am sure she felt loved at the end.
You have my respect and condolences.

Stamps win...Irish win...Saints win. Solid football weekend.
Mondays just seem that much easier to handle when you're coming off a solid sportball weekend!

Yeah man, I'm shocked! Rodgers always lights the Saints up, deff didn't see that performance coming.
And to top it off, after the game my fav player signed a 5 year extension (Lattimore - was in a contract year) so I can finally get his jersey without worry! It's been in my cart forever, didn't want to be a jinxypants.

I woke up early this morning at 5.
I was board so I started poking around and we had everything I needed to make a stew.
It has been on the stove since around 7:30, low and slow.
I can't wait for dinner.

My wife grab a super fresh loaf of sourdough
What makes me happy today is the boy is plying his first game of HS Football.
He is excited and nervous.

Finally that time of year when I can open my window at night and get my room freezing. The part I love is throwing on my favourite blanket as a midlayer between my flannel sheets and my duvet. Idk, the weight or something is just perfect, but it's too warm for use in the summer.

Have you tried a weighted blanket? If you look online you can find them as low as 5 pounds... or 50 pounds (OMG!!) You can even buy a cooling weighted blanket.

Today my wife had her follow up appointment post 6 cycle Chemo and CT scan at the Tom Baker.
I’m so happy to say she’s now on prevention, surveillance as all results look as though she is now cancer free!!!
Also no Chemotherapy to date has been postponed even though some nurses from Chemo ward were allocated to ICU for COVID.
The staff there is amazing and their resilience is an inspiration.

Yeah, I had a custom one made. It's about 50 pounds, but is super long because I'm so tall. Turns out it's too heavy to really enjoy. I don't recommend going that crazy hah.
