His ankle bent at a ninety degree angle in an odd direction. Not a red for me, just an accident. It was a strong challenge from the side but the Leeds player won the ball cleanly. One in a million type thing where the back leg got tangled.
that's a nasty broken/dislocated ankle for Elliott ... awful for the lad.
never a red card though, just a freak accident.
Like I said, I've only seen the incident live and it happened fast and they never showed a replay.
When the ref was explaining the red card to the Leeds players he clearly indicated that it was a decision made by the VAR ref. He kept tapping his earpiece.
I dont know if it was a 'Game Management' Red or if they just deemed it a dangerous tackle, but the VAR ref made the call.
Strujick looked pretty shook up after though, but never seemed to dispute the call.
I'm inclined to agree though, just one of those freak accidents. I'm glad it didnt get heated or out of control. Huge credit to both sets of players.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I don’t really get why people are so quick to call the tackle/injury unlucky. It was from behind and the trailing leg lands with full force on the back of Elliott’s legs. I don’t think it was intentional or anything, but it’s very dangerous.
You can see from the still image that the trailing leg is coming in with force.
