That is because people always talk #### with the "I hate to say it blah blah blah" when they love to say it but when it comes right down to it they don't actually believe what they are spewing.
I have exactly ZERO ongoing bets on CP because posters are all hat and no cattle when it comes to these things.

Well, BT already has his playoff depth defensemen he seems to acquire every year.
So that's good...I guess.
I'm really excited for this season!
Oh hey look, that glue is drying!! Weeeeeeeeeeheeeee

Well, my guess is that they are intent on being the toughest and most intimidating team in the NHL this season. Zadorov hits hard, but he doesn't really fight. Gudbranson does, and does it quite well. I understand the signing, but that's still a lot of defencemen on the team at the moment.
This is almost getting to be comical. It is the 'anti-Oilers' - Oilers have a bunch of offensive defencemen that have no idea how to defend.

All things being equal, playing him in Stockton until there's an injury on D likely makes the most sense.

Planning to pay a guy over $900K to play in the A doesn’t make much sense to me.

There's only 3 options. Which of the other 2 makes more sense to you?
He doesn't require waivers to be sent down and is likely better off actually playing in Stockton than being a healthy scratch in Calgary. His cap hit is $162,500 more than Stone's if he's in Calgary. He has no cap hit if he's in Stockton.

It's uncomfortable betting real money with anonymous people on the internet. I'd suggest an avatar bet, been too long since dickbutt made an appearance.
Or a pube bet is always good.

I often offer avatar bets as an option...usually I am just calling people out for saying stuff just to get a rise that I know they don't actually believe
Open avatar or money bets
Flames have a higher winning % than last season
Flames finish higher in the standings than Seattle
Flames allow fewer goals than the Oilers
No takers thus far but the season is still a month away

Sometimes your blind hate towards opposition fans leaves a sour taste, but kudos to you for fighting the good fight against the Flames "fans" here that do nothing but moan.

Things would have to go incredibly wrong for one of those to happen. Like Markstrom and Vlader going down, or Tanev Hanifin both sustaining season ending injuries early in the season.

Flames re-sign Michael Stone (1 yr, $750k)

One thing's for sure, Treliving teams will never be short on replacement level players! Just an absolutely crucial part of icing a solid NHL team.
Want to make a deal at the deadline? Well forget about that wiggle room you had to take on some salary. We were totally in on that one guy, but we inked Gudbrandson and Richardson last fall and said trade partner won't retain so shucks, too bad.
This organization loves handcuffing itself for literally no reason at all. All in the name of getting that coveted 8th seed.
Keeping that dream of mediocrity alive.
Meanwhile a team like Ottawa hacks the whole thing to the ground, didn't care about vet depth, gave reigns to their prospects and were still trending to be as good or better than us despite not addressing depth positions by throwing money at dumbass nothing signings like our last couple (Stone is an exception).
Maybe try something different for once. If the club had any kind of read on the pulse of its fanbase it would see that fans here would welcome Philips, Ruzicka and Pellitier getting NHL time. Much more than some hard hitting neanderthals no one else would sign.
Just another year where this washed up ex-coyotes management continues to define insanity by doing what its always done to get underwhelming results trying to resurrect 2003 and bore a western conference fanbase to death in its seats.
/savage rant

When has a depth signing ever prohibited the Flames from making an acquisition at the deadline? When has this been an issue for any team at the deadline?
You do realize Ottawa had Gudbranson on their team last year right? And literally got a draft pick for him at the deadline (with double the cap hit he has now).
Pitlick, Richardson, Coleman, and Lewis aren’t “Neanderthals that hit hard”. All you’re doing is showing your lack of understanding of the type of players they are.
Also, NHL teams don’t make personnel decision based off “the pulse of the fan base”. Thinking that any team should operate that way is just silly.
Pelletier hasn’t even played a pro game yet and Ruzcika and Phillips have yet to hit PPG in the AHL. Dube and Mangiapane were performing at a much higher level before getting a permanent call up.
And like it or not, there is no spot on a Darryl Sutter 4th line for Matthew Phillips.
Lots of reasons to dislike Gudbranson the player, but you’re concerns aren’t really concerns at all. Savage rant is more of a random cry about nothing.

Good point...someone traded a pick for him at the deadline. To act like he isn't even an NHLer except to Sutter and Tre isn't accurate at all.
Pounding guys in front of the net and in the corners certainly has value that doesn't show up on the charts and stats. Now I wouldn't have given him that deal but I will give the guy with 2 rings the benefit of the doubt here.
End of the day if the Flames are great or suck EG will be a very little part of that

Worst signing ever - couldn't we just play with 4 forwards and 1 D for a 4th line shift?

Wow. lowered exepectations. Yeessh,
Any Treliving fans, who love to bash any dissenters, want to make a top 6 bet?
PS I'd love to lose, but it's not likely.
I'd bet $100 if it is anonymous
