I think Matz has more than earned a rotation spot for the playoffs. He's been lights out for more than a month. I would leave Manoah out due to inexperience. His stuff is great, but the playoffs are a different beast in terms of pressure.

Great thing is both would still pitch, just one in a releiver roll.

I've been super busy and have only sparingly caught games during this amazing run. There's something really annoying about seeing your team being 9-1 in their last ten and still 4th in the division, lol.

Pretty much. The AL east and NL west might have 7 of the top 10 teams in baseball right now.

Matz is sneaky good. His fastball velocity is as good as Manoah’s and he has better control. I think Manoah’s slider is better than Matz’ secondary pitches but having another southpaw in the rotation could be really handy.

The fact that we went from starting pitching as a position as recently as earlier this season to having to choose among Manoah, Matz, and possibly Stripling for a potential playoff run is just awesome.

Someone above said it, but if you're this close to the playoffs, a good team will find a way to beat the O's in 3 of 4 (I'd say a split isn't a good sign, but at least not the end of the world/hopes). We dropped way too many early to the Tigers and O's that now is do or die.
Either we have elite bats & pitchers, or we lose the series to the O's - the two are mutually exclusive.

There are such things as unlucky streaks of BABIP.
That does not define how good or bad a team is.

People were down on the team because they went 5-4 against those two teams when the Hitters fell into that collective slump where they couldn't cash in any runners in scoring position. Really those two series looked worse because they lost the last game to the Angels, then 2 of 3 vs Seattle, than 2 more to Washington leading up to it.
With the 7 games left against the Twins and O's they should be able to go 5-2 against those teams vs 4-3 type of thing. But really it's a bit hollow if Tampa goes 6-1 against them. If they can pull off a 14-9 record down the stretch they should get in, but no reason they shouldn't win at least 5 of the 9 games they have left against the Rays and Yankees.

Sweeping Oakland and the Yankees in 7 total games has made up for them playing sub .500 in that stretch against LAA, SEA, WAS, DET and BAL.
They're back in it now thankfully. Hopefully they keep it going.
7 vs BAL
7 vs MIN
6 vs TBR
3 vs NYY
77-62 record
Need 15-8 to get 92 wins, which IMO gives them a pretty decent chance at a wild card.
4-5 against TBR/NYY
11-3 against BAL/MIN

As long as he can run effectively, he's a great DH. Few times in the brace though he looked like Terry Fox out there. If he's hobbled, we'd almost do okay having Jansen/McGuire or Dickerson as DH honestly.
He seems dead set on still starting despite the knee, but I have bad feeling he's just asking for a bigger injury by pushing it and not taking a good week off.... hopefully Im wrong.

I would personally like to see Springer take few more games off. Let's get him healthy.

I think 92 wins would be more than enough and likely get them home field for the wild card. 90 probably gets them in the way the Yanks and Sox are playing. To get to 90 wins the Yanks have to go 12-10 and the Sox 10-10. Sox have a tough 6 game stretch coming up and the Yanks have the hardest schedule of the 3 to finish out the year.
I just wish Seattle would go away...
