Using the link you sent ...
I think you had it on 2019-20
Calgary is now 7th in height and 3rd in weight for 21-22

You're right, I could have sworn I've seen him get a fighting major before. Just checked hockey fights.com apparently he had a few in junior....crazy, I'll edit that.

You've got 8 defenseman on NHL contracts and you go out and sign one of the absolute worst players in the league to a 2 million dollar deal...
Glad it's not my money.

Agreed. Especially when Stone was available at $750k for the same role.
$2M for a PP guy I could get on board with. $2M for Gudbranson is... somewhat more challenging to support

Well I respect that. If you believe Richardson and Stone will be solid additions, they you should support the signings.
I'm in wait and see mode. I'm admittedly skeptical based on recent depth signings but if these guys help the team, then fantastic.
If they can't play (looking at you Richardson) then my take is that slot and $ should have gone to someone else.

And now the difference of cap that needs to go out to facilitate that is pushing 9M. Makes everything just a little trickier.

But at AHL bury contracts they don't need to be.
You can just "Simon" them out and bring up a kid to take their place.
They don't need to be lights out to be good signings ... it's free depth. It's only owner money at the AHL level and no cap impact.

Stone>> Gudbrandson.
Getting Stone inked to be the regular #6 was the depth D move that needed to be made, not this.

It seems a large chunk of the board is on melt down now.
This is certainly not how I'd hoped they'd spend their remaining cap space.
Not the least bit surprised though.
I guess all we can do now is hope that Sutter can more out of this team than the sum of it's parts.

can't remember who but I am almost positive someone joked about our primary offseason targets being Coleman and Gudbranson, and that person being laughed at at the time.

I think this is the final clue that there is not a big change coming. There is no plan to use the cap space to improve the skill level of the roster.
If this was the first move of the offseason it would have been met with some raised eye brows but this being, what looks to be the final touches to the roster made by the org, it's a lot of pent up frustration coming out, at least for me.

Is EG the highest draft pick on the roster?

Erik says Sutter called him at the start of free agency. Really good friends with Markstrom and Tanev

I guess. I thought there would have been a core player moved and I get the frustration.
But this is a 1 year 2-million dollar deal for a RH depth D man. Before signing Stone and Gubrandson our right side wad Tanev, Andersson, Welinksy. Now it's Tanev, Andersson, Gudbrandson, Stone with Welinksy adding depth in the AHL.
I can't say I am in love with the player or the off season. But if you can't make a core move then adding depth, size, and Sutter like players isn't a bad play. The reaction isn't inline with the signing Imo.
