We always get the slightly off-brand version.

He can play on a line with Kirkland.

Richardson played for Sutter in LA.

So that is why.

Daryl Sutter I’m guessing wanted him. Won the cup with him in 2012.

A lot of people had Lewis penciled in as the 4th line centre, even with his poor face off numbers. Think this allows Lewis to line up at his natural RW position now and him and Ritchie will rotate as the 4RW and 13th forward.

Also more competition for Gawdin and Ruzicka for the last centre spot.

I don't mind it. He will easily clear waivers if required, and he pushes the young guys to earn their spot.

Leaves the Flames I believe with 2.2m left in cap space.

Enough for some PTOs I think.

Unless some trades happen this is the roster.

Decent 12/13th forward.

Don’t want Ruzicka or Phillips just sitting in the press box, but at some point these guys need ice time. I guess this means more competition.

Job is theirs if they can out play him.

Ensuring that the roster is constructed with Sutter in mind is completely rationale. We should not be surprised.

The way I heard Kirsch mention “maybe there is more news today” after announcing Richardson I could see another depth signing today
