Rentals got really wildly different returns last year. Hall versus Foligno, for example.

I just read a rumour that Logan Brown, a former Sens first-rounder, has asked to be traded, and if they don’t grant his wish, he’s going to play the year in Sweden. Interesting, if true.

To be fair I understand where he is coming from.
Great stats in the A and should of been given a fair swing considering who the sens have played infront of him.

Trade control at the deadline definitely impacts the return. 10-team NTC for Foligno Vs. Full NMC for Hall.
…but even so, Foligno returning a 1st was laughable.

I guess I may be in the minority that Foligno 75% discounted is worth a 1st, especially to a team like Toronto that desperately needed that physical element in their game. Don't be surprised if Foligno has a very good year in Boston.

If this team is totally out of a playoff spot by the trade deadline, I’d say it’s 50/50 as to whether BT is calling the shots.

I agree-skilled 6’6”C with skill, although he doesn’t use his size nearly enough.

If the Flames are out before the deadline, Treliving is most likely getting canned before the deadline. I suspect Mahoney and maybe some of Sutters input would be calling the shots

Logan Brown was a former minor hockey teammate of Tkachuk, also drafted in 2016 when five St. Louis AAA Blues were all drafted in the first round. I believe that was a team coached by Al MacInnis

Maybe he will, but Boston didn’t pay a first for him and Toronto bowed out in round one (again). I can just imagine this site if Treliving spent a first on him with the same result.

The Sens will have the same issue as other rebuilds
They don’t have enough elite talent.
Completely blowing their first this year won’t help

Logan Brown has been on the cusp of being an impact player for a while. A lot of power forwards end up on the cusp for their entire careers. Still interesting, if he pops somewhere.

Sens have drafted 12 times in the first 2 rounds over the last 3 drafts (5x1st, 7x2nd) including some high picks. They have a lot of good young talent coming down the pipe.

[John Hoven] The Anaheim Ducks were looking to make a "hockey trade" with the Sabres for Jack Eichel. The package included two NHL roster players and one of them is believed to be John Gibson
This was said by John Hoven on the Mayor’s Minutes on NHL Network Radio here.

Gibson? That's surprising. Do they have a goalie in the pipeline to replace him?
If not, trading him away seems like solving one problem by creating a much bigger one.
