No it isn't. They're receiving one of Montreal's two firsts, one of which previously belonged to Carolina.

AZ probably is best able to firesale and tank. It’s not like they have a big fan base to placate.

Yea nobody gets points in Arizona. Team has always been an offensive black hole.

I suppose he might go the path of Max Domi - big year after getting to Montreal, then a decline. But aside from that I’m hard pressed to think of another youngish player who’s blossomed after leaving AZ. Not Galchenyuk, Perlini, Cousins, Boedker etc.

Well, Dylan Strome but he hardly played for them.

I believe he will be an immediate improvement over KK (not hard to do) and may end up thriving in MTL (a la Lindholm in Calgary)

So much for MTL fans dreams of offer sheeting Necas next year. The 1st in this trade will almost certainly be their own.

Edit: derp!

They can still offer sheet Necas. Any offer sheet for a player that becomes RFA after this season involves 2023 draft picks. The 2022 draft will happen before offer sheets can be submitted.

Maybe. He'll have to pay the extra realtor costs. Plus he's probably in the process of moving, if he can't stay in his current house he'll probably have to pay to put it all in storage and then live in a hotel for a month or two. I think the player gets paid for moving costs, not sure if storage before the move or hotel bills would be covered though.

Right, didn't think that one through all the way.

Certainly jealous of the decisiveness of their path forward. No middle ground. It’s a very clear path forward towards the future.
Detroit has been pulling this strategy for over 2 seasons now. Why not be jelly of them too?

Detroit has the best GM in the league, so yeah, they’re also a team to be jealous of.

If he does in Detroit what he did in Tampa, then yes.

But if he can't replicate that success, then one will have to wonder how much of what he did in Tampa was a combination of luck and the people he had around him.

I think that mainly had to do with coaching. They had Tippett and Tocchet.

Hopefully it's different now. I think Keller will be back to 60 points since they've no one else.

Coyotes have 8 first the next 2 seasons

They are probably gonna be so bad that their own are gonna be top 2 as well with the new rules

This summer they've traded OEL, Garland, Dvorak, Kuemper, and Hill.

In 2014-15 they traded Yandle, Vermette (who they immediately signed again the following summer), Dubnyk (who they had just acquired), and... Zbynek Michalek (who they also immediately signed again the following summer).

Don't think that's comparable.

Coyotes hoping to suck and get Wright and/or Bedard.

Odds are they probably get the McDavid/Eichel draft lottery treatment again, and walk away with Strome.

That is an absolute win if you are not rebuilding. Dvorak is criminally underrated here because people obviously don't know the player. Getting out of Arizona and into a market like Montreal you will soon.
