Panama and Costa Rica draw 0-0. I'll take that result; Costa Rica in particular is going to be one of the squads Canada has to leap over to make the World Cup. They are on a big decline so it's doable.

Mexico / Jamaica and El Salvador / USA are both 0-0 at the half.

Just can't drop points at home to anyone but the US, Mexico or maybe CR, no matter how entertaining.

watching this game reminded me how much I hate Gareth Wheeler's commentary. The pacing is weird and he constantly refers to players by nick names or their first name.

Calgary's own Scott Kennedy had better be in the 11 against the US and never again be out of it.

I can't decide if the US tie is good news or not. I want Mexico to destroy everyone as we know they'll finish first. The US is not looking strong and maybe should be looked at as up for the taking.

With all the draws tonight, a win woulda been a huge confidence boost. Alas.

Still lots to build on and hopefully we snag a point off the Americans.

How can you go to Qatar when you can’t beat Honduras at home?

At least Jamaica dropped all points against Mexico, that would’ve really stung

Looks like 21 points (1.5 points per match) is the magic number to finish top 4 based on historical works cup qualifying from around the world. Read that yesterday in a btsvancity.com article. A point against the Americans would do wonders towards that number now

7 of 8 sides dropped points yesterday, so that bails out Canada for the performance a bit.

Just means they have to pick up a win on the road in Central America, which is basically saying they need to do something they haven't done in 20 years. Time to put up or shut up on that front.

Long competition. Can't draw conclusions after 1 game. Not ideal, but still aways to go

Not sure how much smoke there is to this, but rumours starting to circulate that the November home games will be in Edmonton.

IMO Vancouver is the far more likely choice, but if it is Edmonton, I guess I will have to make the trip...

I will for sure make the Edmonton trip. Probably a Vancouver trip too.

Would they play on the turf in Vancouver tho?

France couldn't beat a team 55 places below them in the FIFA rankings, at home no less. I guess they also have no place in Qatar?

Why in the F would they want to play soccer in November in Edmonton? Cripes almighty, November 12 may be -17 by then. Isn't that when the first Winter Classic was between the Oilers and the Habs?

No way FIFA allow any matches in Edmonton in November. The pitch will be frozen. Major safety issue.

It's artificial turf now, no?

No under-soil heating at Commonwealth Stadium. The artificial turf still freezes. There's simply no way any insurance company will offer insurance for Alphonso Davies' contract with Bayern Munich when you're talking about that kind of pitch in that kind of climate.

A lot of people don't realize that the CSA's largest cost, by far, is insurance premiums on the domestic league contracts of the players they call up.

I think Edmonton will happen in Nov.

See how our Mex and Costa Rican friends enjoy with little to no traveling fans.

TSN with a pre game show and I assume a half time instead of just using the One Soccer feed.

Hoilett is way too slow to play at this level. He was put clean through and was beaten to the ball by five yards! Get him off the pitch.
