Pretty good effort as you can't ask for much more from a rookie QB facing the best DL in the league. Some bad penalties hurt and as good of a kicker Peredes is he just doesn't have the leg for 50+ yard kicks. Otherwise I thought the team played pretty well against a team with vastly more talent on both sides of the ball.

That was a solid game. Bombers had some terrible drops and awful coverage in 2nd and long. Man Maier look poised in the pocket. It hurts to watch a team have such a great qb factory.
I wanted this one bad, but I'm not too upset. They came within a hair of pulling off the win and I think this team has a lot of growth in them still.
I can't believe how good Jake Maier has looked.

Saw on instagram the Stamps are releasing a list of their 75 greatest players. The first 10 came out and there some cool memories. Junior Thurman, Bernie Morrison. And Basil Bark, my Fad would talk about him and I remember buying some shoes from him at Forzani’s. A Center IIRC.
Looking forward to the top 10. Should be QB heavy with room for some other greats like Helton, Harris, SugarFoot, Lunsford…

Garcia, Keeling, Pitts, Pajaczkowski, Sykes, Burden, Laird, Sapunjis, and on and on
Love seeing these names. Don’t forget Richie Hall, Forzani. Flutie should be there too. Going to games when he was QB was some of the most fun I’ve had as a sports fan even though I felt dirty supporting that owner.
Some love for Danny Barrett hopefully too.
We have been lucky but when I was very young that team was just awful. Barrett to Pee Wee changed everything and no looking back since.

I know I've posted this before, but I watched that game with my dad (RIP) and we were both jumping for joy when Pee Wee hauled in that bomb from Barrett.

My Doug Flutie story — when I was in junior high and the Grey Cup was in Calgary in 1993, my buddy and I went down to the Stampede Grounds where they were holding the Grey Cup festival (it was indoors, I think at the old Round Up Centre). There weren’t that many people for some reason, so we each took multiple turns at the passing station trying to throw footballs into a a couple of targets about 10-15 yards away. We probably threw 10 balls each and maybe got one or two into the closer target. Doug shows up in his street clothes and proceeds to go two for two at the far target without missing a beat.
First time seeing a pro QB up close — and yeah, he was pretty good.

So memorable.
The Eskimos felt unbeatable as a Stamps fan up to that point.
Armitage on the call saying "he could go" when Pee Wee was on the 1 yard line with no one within 20 yards.
Lloyd Fairbanks being unable to watch the final Esks drive (Hopkins covering him with a towel).
Like you, my Dad and I were going nuts. It really did feel unbelievable.

This is why I love the CFL.
