Montoyo has a thing for leaving in a struggling pitcher until things get out of hand. Ryu should have been pulled after the 3rd.

What the flying #### was that Ryu? He's been downright terrible in August. An ace is supposed to be your streak Starter/Stopper and Ryu has been neither for quite some time now. If this team finds a way into the wildcard game the ball has to go to Ray.
I like the resolve in them trying to make a game of it, but after the 5 run rally they had 1 hit the rest of the way.

When was the last time Bo or Vladdy had an extra base hit? Seems like it was months ago. A shame that your two studs are slapping the ball around like David Eckstein.

The A's and Red Sox have been equally as bad as the Jays lately. So 89-90 wins might get it done. Which would be 23-13.

That loss column gets smaller and smaller by the day though |

Yeah, the Jays don't really have an ace right now.
Ray would be the closest thing.

They do have 5 or 6 average to above average starts though, which isn't bad, it just means they lack consistency and long stretches of pure dominance.

Ray is every bit an ace. He is arguably the best pitcher in the AL right now.

The way he is pitching right now, yes he's pitching like an ace.

He's one year removed from being dumped for a DFA relief pitcher because he was that bad though.

He's gotta keep it up, and I believe he can too. The way he's dropped his walk rate this year is incredible.

He also struggles mightily the 3rd time through the order, and tends to give up too many homers, but thankfully the lack of baserunners has limited the damage.

Yup, I would say if they don't do better than .500 in there next 6 against the Tigers and Trash birds she done.

Need to take advantage of two bad teams here. 4-2 minimum, maybe even 5-1.

After that its tough sledding the rest of the way.

20 vs sub .500
16 vs. above .500

13 of those 36 games are against two of the best and hottest teams in the AL, the Yankees and Rays.

Even if they go 7-6 in those games, which doesn't seem likely, they'll need to go 17-6 in the other games just to hit 90 wins, which won't guarantee them the 2nd wild card.

Uphill climb to say the least.

Yeah. they'll have to do something stupid like go 16-4 against the O's, Twins, and Tigers. And then a must win series against the A's. I would bet they split the Yanks because they've played them well and the Yanks will have to cool off at some point(no team plays .900 for half a season). Then the inevitable 1-5 against the Rays because they're the Rays.
 16-4
 2-1
 4-3
 1-5
 23-13

If you enjoy watching a bunch of tasty meatballs being served up by Ryu, you’ll love this game.

I don't get it. Why do we need a 6th outfielder?

Maybe Springer felt not so great today after running the bases yesterday? Or maybe they don't think he can play CF anytime soon and will just use him as a DH?

Also I believe Palacios got optioned so by my count that's 5 outfielders, Teo, Gurriel, Springer, Grichuk and Dyson

I think Dyson is still a plus defender and he's not just fast, but fast fast.
