That will be a surprise to those that were pushing for it and working on getting people out and not getting replies from the government.

I keep hearing that they got about 1000 people out on the last day and about 3700 people total. If they have been working on it "24/7 for weeks and months now" (just heard him say that on the radio) then why have they waited until the last week or so to get serious about getting people out?
I'd like to see reporters press him on how long they have been serious about evacuating people, is "months" = 2 months? 3 months?

With the amount of people trapped we could be looking at the biggest hostage situation ever.

Ugh.
Sorry, my cynicism is kicking into overdrive.
Hostage situation? The situation in Afghanistan right now is the epitome of 'unforced errors.'
I've said it before and I think I know where the Government stands.
This scenario is either the result of absolutely staggering incompetence or unfathomable apathy.
Or both.
It was both.

ISIS has now claimed responsibility.

There is an ongoing gun fight in western Kabul and there were two more explosions in Kabul in the last 15 minutes. One in the 12th district and one in the 10th district. Earlier, a Taliban pick-up hit an IED in central Kabul. It looks like six explosions in Kabul so far.

Too sketchy to land in Kabul right now? Quite possibly as there are unconfirmed reports ISIS-K may have fired rockets at the airport.

Military flights have just gone "dark" on Flightradar over Afghanistan.

I am surprised that ISIS still hasn't been able to recruit a single member with graphic design skills. Their flag looks like it was written with crayons.

There are a number of animal rescue organizations I've been following that have been at the airport as well trying to get themselves and their animals out, and now they're trapped with one of them not posting in 14 hours. As if this wasn't all heartbreaking enough.

The flag is meant to imitate flags that would have been created by Islamic leaders in pre-modern times. It's meant to honour people before them and stand as a symbol of rejecting modernism. It was made on photoshop though.

It sounds like there was a plane designated for them. People in the seats and the animals in the cargo. I agree, animals shouldn't take human's spots in an evacuation. I do disagree that there should be no not-for-profits for animals in a place where there are street children due to poverty. Both kind of charities can and do exist.

if you can put a dog in the cargo hold you can put a person in there, those planes should be at max weight and over the head count flying out

Evan Soloman, sounds like he's losing his temper with our Defense Minister on Powerplay.
Basically Evan is just calling him on his bull#### over and over again.

According to the Canadian Press, 60 Afghans, 12 Americans killed in the attacks.
Super sad, and I'll say again: a disgusting lack of leadership by western leaders, especially Biden.

This super spread thin Taliban is a pretty big opportunity for ISIS there. Surprised they're bothering in Kabul and not trying to cement themselves elsewhere tbh.

My side business of selling barbed wire is doing really well though.

All the media focus is on Kabul now, I suspect they want to be visible before all the western news channels lose interest.

I am sure that is the story they are sticking with, but it was probably made by some ISIS meth head.
Pre-modern Islamic art and calligraphy was beautiful and intricate.
