trying to link a tweet on this board is 10000 times harder than it has to be.

Anyway, that’s a link from manuel veth saying big things on the horizon for league news, including on expansion.

Was limiting the CPL to 1 game a week CBC or the CPL’s idea. If they want to grow the game, they might need to consider giving away the broadcasts, there must be a channel that would give them the airtime. Heck, even some smaller leagues including the Women’s Hockey was being broadcasted on Twitch.Tv…or mid 2000s WHL was in Shaw Public Access.

If a kid discovers the CPL on Twitch and gets his/her parents to take the family to a couple games a year, it will be more beneficial for the league than a $10 a month subscription.
The people I invited to come with me to the Cavs game weren't even aware the team existed. And they're all at least casual sports fans.

I won't say OneSoccer holds them back because I don't believe that is fair. They have done so much for the league from financial help to promotion. It's hard to ask for them to do more. I will say, they do need to find a way to get a game every week, or couple weeks on Sportsnet or TSN (despite both being trash), to get more casual fans with eyes on the league. Or at least back on CBC.

Veth said on Twitter that there are two expansion sides that should be announced soon, and that neither are in Quebec.

I say they hold the league back by limiting the access points for new eyes…if OneSoccer was a store, it would be that secret place in the middle of nowhere and the only people who would go there are the people who already knew they existed.

CBC, TSN, SportsNet, DAZN, Twitch, or even Youtube would give an opportunity for new eyes to stumble upon it, even if someone stumbles upon OneSoccer and downloads the app, they’ll delete it the second it asks for a credit card.

Sask has already been “announced”. So I don’t believe it’s then.

I strongly believe at least one of the locations he is hinting at is in BC.

I think having a match every week on CBC or some other channel would be good for promotion. Paying a league like TSN to carry games, or giving all their games to them for free, would mean the end of the league as mediapro paid a huge sum for the rights to broadcast the league. The league literally wouldn’t survive without that tv money to stabilize it in the early years.

How many subscriptions would you guess OneSoccer are currently selling? I would guess less than 500 total from CPL fans.

DAZN would be awesome.

Went to my first game a few weeks ago through the Ship and Anchor bus. Had a great time. Looking to go again this Sunday, but the Ship and Anchor bus is sold out. Does the Rose and Crown still do a bus to Spruce Meadows on gamedays?

Yes it does, but unlike the Ship bus there’s no ticket included for the game so you have to get that yourself.

Rose and Crown bus leaves 90 mins before kickoff. You have to get food or beer at the pub to get a ticket.

I have no idea. Doesn’t change the fact that the league needs the mediapro/onesoccer money to survive.

1-0 Pacific up on the Whitecaps 8 minutes in after a penalty. Pacific looks really lively!

1-1 after Irving decides to whiff on a clearing attempt and just runs into the Whitecaps player instead

Is Vancouver just terrible? I was really hoping to see us play them in the next round, but they really look disorganized.
