Semien despite his overall numbers has been one of the goats oof the season. His clutch performances in general have been awful. Anyway thanks Marcus for that performance today.

			Routine grounder to second...........game over.
What could have been. What a gut punch of a loss.

If the season ended a month ago Semian probably would have made an extra $40M on his next deal over the same term.

			#### man. Hurts even more because Semien makes those 2 great defensive plays earlier in the game, but then does that in the 9th. Geez.

Silver lining in this if the Jays do want to sign him. His numbers are plummeting.

The Jays are still by in large a very inexperienced group. Particularly guys like Vlad, Bo, Teoscar, and Gurriel who have never played a full MLB season as every day players. You can see that the grind of a 162 game season is starting to wear on them a fair bit. Hernandez is the only guy who's played 120 previously.
Baseball of all sports does favor veteran experience over youth, and the Jays are getting some tough experience right now. These guys are finding out first hand what it's like to grind out a full season at this level.

Playoff odds now down to 10% - seems like a real stretch all of a sudden. Boston having a way better year than expected really ate into those playoff hopes that were formed earlier in the year.
It's weird - preseason projections had the Jays around 85-87 wins and I'd say it's still pretty likely they end up there. It's just that the Red Sox and White Sox are doing so much better than expected that the playoff hopes are so much lower.

Also, the White Sox are a fraud and will get stomped come playoff time - they have played by far the easiest schedule and are way below .500 against good teams. MLB needs to figure out a more balanced schedule.

Baseball really does love it's tradition, but with 3 and 4 game series they really could do away with Divisions and go to a balanced schedule without introducing that much more travel. Not the different than the old 14 team leagues with 2 Divisions. I would almost favor that and do away with Interleague play. But that might be bias from a guy who has seen like 23 of the last 25 years where the AL East has 3 or 4 strong teams and the other Divisions seldom go more than 2 deep.

On top of all the ####ty performances they just don't have a lick of luck right now. Those grounders by McGwire and Bo were rockets with hit %'s of .600 or higher. And then this inning Manoah is getting absolutely squeezed off the plate and yet Lynn hasn't had a call go against him.

Yeah, they are starting to hit the ball hard on a regular basis - the hits will soon follow (assuming they can keep it up)
