Default Potential PTOs For the Flames

I just saw on Cap Friendly that the Flames have Alex Gallant as a PTO for the 21-22 season. I am sure there will be more.

Are there any intriguing ones that might actually have a chance of being a regular?

Sami Vatanen
Eric Staal
Tyler Bozak
Jason Demers
Ryan Donato
Michael Stone
Alex Galchenyuk

Those are some I’d be interested in giving a PTO/look

Benn and Gudbranson have Sutter-type written all over them

I think picking up zadorov nullifies Gudbranson.

I figured they would sign one or the other. The 6th spot will probably be a young guy or stone is my guess.

I like Gudbranson though. Our D would be pretty intimidating if we signed him as well.

Wasn’t Demers a pretty solid top four guy? Or am I getting him mixed up with someone?

Still need bodies in the middle six, but will be interesting to see what the kids can do.

I'd take a gamle on Galchenyuk. Extra center/wing depth.

Always handy.

It would be hot garbage with him.

What happened to Vatanen? I thought he was a solid top 4 in Anaheim and a defenseman that most teams would love to have. Then he went to NJ seemed to slip and has bounced around the past 3 or 4 years. Currently unsigned and a possibly looking for a PTO to keep his NHL dream alive.

Yeah Vatanen is still solid, I'd take a look.

Might as well bring back Stone, too. Galchenyuk would be interesting.

Here are some potential PTOs with connection to the current coaching or management staff or have some local ties. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of these fill out the training camp roster but most would be unlikely to grab a roster spot (maybe Stone and maybe a forward as a popcorn muncher).

Michael Stone - RD (31)
-On Flames last year

Jordie Benn - LD (34)
-Played for Muller in Montreal

Brad Richardson - C/LW (36)
-Played for Sutter in Los Angeles

Andy Andreoff - LW/C (30)
-Played for Sutter in Los Angeles

Louis Domingue - G (29)
-On Flames last year
-Played in Arizona under Treliving/Maloney

Ben Thomas - RD (25)
-Born in Calgary
-Played for Calgary Hitmen

Carter Rowney - RW/C (32)
-Born in Grande Prairie
-Played for Abbotsford Heat
-Played for Anaheim Ducks

Colton Sceviour - RW (32)
-Born in Red Deer

Tobias Rieder - LW/RW (28)
-Former Flame
-Played in Arizona under Treliving/Maloney

I've always liked Donato, back to his days with Boston. He's got more to give, but he hasn't gained any traction in the league so far. He still has good hands.

I think Werner will fulfill that role. Some say he's good enough that he could beat out Vladar for the #2 spot in camp.
