That wasn't even close to a TD what are they crying about...he was diving away from the goal and he was a yard short when he caught it

We've seen touchdowns caught out of bounds at the side of the end zones, if feet are in. I guess that has crossed the plane?

Ball has to break the plane of the goal line. Wasn't it even close. More than a yard.

That was a hell of a football game. So happy for Jake Maier! He looked overwhelmed early with the two INTs, but adjusted and seemed to calm down and trust his talents. If there weren’t so many dropped passes, this game wouldn’t have been close. Montreal took a crap ton of penalties which helped, of course. Like someone else said, THAT was a CFL football game!
Nice to avoid 0-3
So incredibly happy just to watch CFL football again:-)

Holy crap, that was a nail-biter. Maier started off rough, but he made some amazing passes.
Awesome game! This is why I love the CFL!

It really felt like we were being set-up to lose. By a single point, due to a botched field-goal by Montreal, on the last play of the game. I think it would have pushed me over the edge. I'm so happy about this win.

Yes, very clearly both a catch, AND well short.

Wow, what a finish!
The last play happened in front of me. If he had a foot on the ground in the end zone it might have been enough. But the receiver went fully horizontal and the ball never broke the plane before going out of bounds.
The Metchie pick definitely turned the game, and got the Stamps back in it. Defence did a great job of smothering their receivers and were able to contain the run despite a depleted D-Line.
Maier threw some nice balls when he had time, and I thought the receivers stepped up when they had the chance to make a play.

I was not clear - I’m not talking about the goal line. Right call, if the rule is break the plane.
Just comparing how we allow TDs caught out of bounds at the sides and back of the end zones, if feet are in.

The sides and back of the end zone are across the plane.

It's all about the ball crossing the goal line. Catching the ball out of bounds in the end zone with a foot down, the ball has crossed the goal line.

This one makes up for the home loss to the Als a few years back when Arbuckle balled out but the officials screwed the Stamps. I didn't think Dave called a great game offensively as he went way too pass heavy when Maier was struggling early. Also that play call where they fumbled the ball last with the receiver crossing was kind of a dumb call with a rookie QB in and all they were trying to do was kill the clock as it would have been crushing to lose that one.

He has a lot of confidence. Maybe a little too much as I don't think he has the arm to back it up. He can't zip the ball in like Mitchell and has to be perfect on his placement as Als DB's were breaking on a lot of his balls. His deep passes also floated. That doesn't mean you can't win with him on a short term basis but I'm not sure if he could be permanent starter in this league.

No he dosen't have a rocket of the arm on the long stuff, and he does seem to over power the short stuff at times. But that's nerves. I did like his pocket work, though at times he just didn't have a lot of time.
Good on Dave for pulling out the Flea Flicker that goes a long way in energizing a team.
Lots of work to do on the oline, and receiver consistancy.
Frankly the Als receiver just kind of all blew it on the last play, Calgary was playing zone he needed to take the extra 2 steps on the 6 route to score.
I'm sure beyond the discipline issues, that didn't impress Jones much. A receiver should know better.

Yeah the OLine is a really sore spot for sure....but not entirely unexpected either.
Just don't see any way they can really improve it via new acquisitions this year either with the border and quarantine issues in place. So unless there are a bunch of National offensive tackles just sitting around waiting for a call, its what you see is what you get.
I thought Ambles and Huff were terrific last night and Maier, although very raw, looked ok for a 1st time starter. Mayala has been a huge disappointment. Kamar was oddly invisible last night but we know how good he can be. I think the WR core is pretty muh OK overall. Lots of their issues go back to the Oline too.
Karey was better as well, but still more there to give IMO.
