Almost got it by Schoop. But that should be interference on the play. Having a guy run up within 10 feet of the plate and then back off is ridiculous.

I hate the bunt with two strikes when guy looked like he couldn’t get it done at all on the other attempts. They’d have been better served to have just tried to steal third.

4 Double plays. 4 innings with 2 runners on and less than 2 outs and no runs. This team is just pathetic.

This team...............is not very clutch right now. Frustrating.

Soto had a hard time hitting the strike zone so why bunt? The guy throws a million miles an hour, he'll either throw balls or you get the bat on the ball and it's in the outfield.

Why are you pinch hitting for Kirk?

All the guy has done his whole life is hit. A rookie with a 110 wRC+ and is known for incredible plate discipline with a pitcher who is walking guys.

Everything Montoyo does just turns to ####.

Kirk has double play written all over him. He could be one of the few guys in the game who could get a bunt down and have it turn into a triple play.

Kirk is a pure hitter with a great eye and the pitcher was struggling to throw strikes.

It was a moronic move anyway you look at it.

That idiot Valera barely got a bunt down anyways, and it wasn't even good enough to advance the goddamn runners.

They should have had Dickerson come in to bunt. A lefty to push it away from the first baseman. Much harder play for the shortstop to cover 3rd as he's basically racing the runner as is. A much more chaotic play.

And with the way Schoop was charging they should've called the bunt off anyways. Anything on the ground either hits him hard or goes right by him.

Valera’s bunt attempts sucked miserably and the bunt should have been taken off after two strikes for sure. However, if Kirk was up, they almost certainly would have had him bunting too and he could have very easily bunted into a double play.

FFS.

Gurriel had soooo much time there. He didnt need to rush it.

Just poor execution all around. As expected.

Nobody should have been bunting.

If Grichuk was up, then you can take your chances bunting.

Kirk is a very good hitter, with very good plate discipline. You let him go up and hit the baseball.

Even if Valera gets the bunt down properly, it's 2nd and 3rd with one out and Grichuk batting.

Grichuk.

Montoyo has zero situational awareness.

Haha. There's the knockout punch.

What an epic collapse from contention. At least it's like a band aid and September will be that oh so familiar feeling of watching a .500 ball team.

Here comes the insurance runs, just to make sure the Jays can't fluke out a tying run.
