I expect they'll a) play out of the Veterans Coliseum for a couple years before a new home is built in Tempe or b) relocate.

All depends on what their ownership can do, I suppose.

Any further context or reasoning? I don't have the athletic subscription

This has to be hardball negotiations or something. There's no way Glendale makes more money on a small handful of concerts than 41 games a year.

Either way, the Coyotes/Glendale relationship is due to be over one way or another.

The team will for sure go to Houston (Sorry Quebec) if they relocate

Good. I think hockey can work in Phoenix but that Glendale arena was absolutely brutal to get to.

Gotta think if they can’t find something in Phoenix maybe the door opens for a move to Houston?

So we're moving out of the Saddledome and the Coyotes are moving into the Saddledome.

I believe they will relocate to Phoenix, Bettman is so head strong for hockey to stay in Arizona.

The Suns/Sarver have no interest in a partnership

I could see the Coyotes finally getting top end talent in Wright or Bedard… and then moving to Houston.

Forgive me for my lack of Coyotes history knowledge, but is there a reason they don't play in the same building as the Suns?

When is the last time a building kicked out a team?

And unless the arena already has concerts every single night, and they need those extra 41 slots, there is no way they are better off without the Coyotes

The Suns building doesn’t fit a hockey rink is one reason.

Houston Coyotes? At least people would stop talking about the flames moving to Texas that way.

Has it substantially changed from when they played in there from 97-04? Assuming the Tempe deal can get done, they could play there for 2-3 seasons to bridge a gap, you'd think.

They originally did but the seating isn't ideal for hockey as fans sitting on one end of the arena actually couldn't see the net below them properly. Attendance was better in Phoenix though even with the poor seating.
