Bought by Jeff Vinik and sold back to him for $1?

Pretty much nothing going on in the trade front for the flames.

Maybe when all of the RFA’s are signed and we know what cap space is left?

Lots of tumbleweeds right now. Even around the league in general.

Happens every year, one big name is available for trade and until he is traded it holds up the market.

It’s frustrating, especially when we saw so much activity around the drafts.

I still think the flames aren’t done. I don’t think we’re getting Eichel though. Too much of a health risk is my guess.

I think there’s still a move coming though.

Too obvious to catch as cap circumvention. But what if some guy named Geoff Vinnick bought it?

Meh, it's crickets league wide on the trade front. Maybe another couple of weeks if we see any action if at all. Can't imagine teams want to push travel issues tight to the start of camp. Well except the Eichel trade, suppose that one doesn't matter since it should have been done long ago.

My theory is the reason Buffalo is waiting as long as possible to trade Eichel is they will acquire said teams first round pick, and the longer he sits out recovering from injury, the lower that team will finish in the standings/higher the draft pick.

THN is also questioning if the Flames have more to do.

Changes were expected for the Calgary Flames following their disappointing performances over the past two seasons.

GM Brad Treliving acknowledged as much...

The Oil writers are mocking the team as well.

That lineup and coach Darryl Sutter reminds me of an old Sesame Street quip “one of these things is not like the other”. Meanwhile they neglect to mention how no team managed to make their organization and roster worse than the Oilers.

I’m not sure the Sabres’ organization is capable of strategic thinking.

Everyone should be questioning this organization. They talked big changes and have done little other than allowing Seattle to take Gio.

I'm holding out faith for Eichel still.

I think Kevyn Adams is just raising a fuss and digging his heels in to get the four 1st round picks or recent 1sts he really wants. He is envisioning the Duchene trade when in reality it could be closer to ROR with the Blues.

How I think negotiations are going.

Say Tre dangles 2022 1st, Tkachuk, Valimaki.
Adams: #### off thats only 3. Plus Tkachuk doesn't want to play here.
Treliving: Then just trade him somewhere he wants to play, hear the Blues wanted to take him.
Adams: They made us look like idiots with ROR but fine lets see what he thinks.
Armstrong: Hey guys. Either of you wanna take Tank off my hands?
Adams: Thats not what we're here to discuss, we want to see what you'd give up for Tkachuk.
Armstrong: Tarasenko! Trade is one for one.
Treliving: #### off
Adams: #### off
Treliving: He should be worth a 1st and a blue chipper
Armstrong: How about a 2nd and Tarasenko?
Treliving: No, if I'm giving you Matt AND taking Tarasenko we want a 1st for next year and a blue chipper.
Armstrong: That's lopsided even with only a 1st. If I give you a 1st I want picks back to even it out. I want a 2nd and 3rd.
Treliving: #### man now that's lopsided in your favor.
Adams: But guys... thats still only three 1st round picks... I wanted 4

Etc...

They ain't wrong. We may not like the moves they made, but Holland is doing what he can and risking it for the biscuit.

At least we know what the Flames are. The Oilers are boom/bust and to be clear they will be bust with a number of those long term contracts and it's only a matter of when.

So much in that article is ridiculous. Take, for example, Point #7:
