Don't confuse having a non-positive objective view of anything as wallowing in misery. Misery is the furthest thing from my day to day life. I consider myself a problem solver and when I see a problem I simply point it out and try to figure out how to fix it. I don't ever hope for failure as I would love Treliving to prove me wrong but time is running out for him.

I generally find your contributions to be thoughtful and constructive, even though we often disagree.

Wasn't referring to you at all.

No, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that the Canadiens aren’t my model of a successful franchise. A sole long PO run does not a good franchise make IMO, especially when it’s accomplished the way that one was.

Finding the right mix in a team is very difficult and there is no one way to do it right. A scorched earth approach and doing "a proper rebuild" is no more a guarantee of success than grinding it out and finding talent where you can. |
It takes about 8 years between a top 3 pick and a cup to come. Almost invariably the teams that win have top 3 picks. How do you get one of those without a full and proper rebuild?

It's funny that you often use the lottery analogy about top picks when your solution is to somehow strike gold in the mid to late first round and later draft rounds...

None of the views expressed in this thread or any other are "objective." We all are incapable of escaping or often even recognising our own biases, and it is unhelpful to label one side by implication as somehow more or less rational and dispassionately committed to real problems and solutions.

You're a special case.

One can angle to the negative or to the constructive criticism.

But you're at a whole new level. You look for and state misery in pretty much every single topic.

Not sure you hate the team, only you would know that, but you seem to enjoy things going poorly more than the average guy. Hard to ignore the zeal!

But some will become suspicious when certain posters do nothing but complain about everything at every given opportunity.

Yeah exactly.

We all have subjective opinions.

It's like when someone tells me they are a realist. Based on what? Why do you get to decide where that microscopic point between optimism and pessimism exists?

I know I annoy many with my optimistic takes on things, but honestly it's how I'm built. Did wonders for fighting cancer!

This makes me wonder, do you think we'll see any PTOs this year? I mean, aside from Gallant which is for the Heat. Flames do love to give PTOs long looks. And occasionally a contract.

Not your boss.

Have the Flames in the last 20 years ever gone into a season with ample cap space? Ever?

Once they sign their three RFAs they should have somewhere between $3.5M and $5M

That means change, and by default the off season clearly isn't over.

Flames will need to add 1 more dman for sure....
That would consume a portion of the remaining cap, however the question is how are they going to acquire a top 4 dman?

I would have thought the Flames would have made a move by now...

Line up has issues, and they have cap space.

Trades seem like the only path forward.....
