Oh really? Maybe we should have a poll on whether or not CPers think they are a model franchise or not. I'm betting the vote would be no in a landslide.

Then you can out your big brush away maybe.

Anyone would trade Barkov for McDavid straight up in a second if they actually were given the opportunity.

I actually don’t agree with this. And I am not a McDavid hater.

I like my best player being able to play against the other teams best players.

You take McDavid and let the other team worry about who can play against the other team's best players.

I exaggerate but people go on about their awesome moves and players on here all the time....a player easily better than McDavid lol.

Yet zero playoff wins since the mid 90s, even the Flames have 4 (5)

McDavid definitely has the most trade value in the league. But Bedard will pass him the moment he is drafted.

McDavid would've been amazing to watch on any other team that would provide proper development and support on his first 3 or 4 years.

Lowe just expects those top picks simply just to "go play" and not meddle with thier game (just their heads) as if it's Wayne circa 1984 vs out of shape defensesman and stand up goalies.

It's why all those top picks have flailed there, in addition to the meddling of Lowe (himself and via McT,)

Players develop every year from when they start skating at 2 years old, until they make the jump into the big league, helped and guided by coaching staffs and now, personal trainers and support teams.

But with the Oilers it's hands off the top picks from Lowe, so Hall,RNH, Eberle, Dr Drai, and Yakupov just exist and that means they don't get better or add more dimension to their game. Hell, not even on ice development, with Pool Party they figured out only after over a year they should help him out with English lessons so he can basically communicate.

McDavid would be almost twice the player he is now if on basically any other team in the league and had a proper personal and team development plan, and that's scary.

But they have given McDavid everything he wants. He wants these guys. He wants Bear gone. These things happened. I would bet he was part of the Hyman recruit also.

You realize how butthurt inferiority complex city is going to be when a better player enters the league right. Especially if it's during McDingus's tenure there

One can argue however that McDavid is presently #2 to MacKinnon and the playoffs eye & statsheet tests would not disagree.

I don't care if you agree on an internet forum where we spitball ideas and debate salaries and trades and covid vaccines, but if you were in the GM's chair you're trading Barkov for McDavid.

If it's for a game today, I would take MacKinnon over McDavid. If it's a draft to build a team, I take McDavid.

Barkov is not even close to being in the discussion. Great player, but a few spots down the list on any fantasy draft.

You put McDavid on a really good team and the sky is the limit. He's the most talented and dynamic offensive player I've seen since Mario Lemieux.

But he's not nearly as good after the regular season. Pretty human in fact.

Look how neutered he was vs Winnipeg. How many periods of OT and he couldn't break through?

I think part of what plays into it is that teams give him more respect and space in the regular season when there is less at stake, when that changes his impact is diminished. But I think there is also a mental block on his end when the games matter.
