If you're looking at counting stats only, sure.
If you look at how it happened (% of time with McDavid, on ice shooting percentage, personal shooting percentage, production against Ottawa) it gets concerning.
If you look at the rest of his game it's downright scary.

He's been ranked 175th on average in suppression stats for the last three years.
He's a bottom pairing defenseman, and almost a 7th defenseman defensively.
Not where I'd put $9.25M

Remember I am just a Homer, don't claim to be an expert. But I have watched the Oilers my whole life and I haven't been this excited preseason since the Jari Kurri days. We've learned to not get our hopes up too high but I am throwing caution to that this year. We have a good team.

What numbers are you talking about? Corsi against per 60? Fenwick? High danger chances? Straight shots against?

Because their last series of moves makes one question whether they look at advanced stats at all. In fact I'm almost certain they ponied up assets for Keith based on name recognition and reputation alone lol.

CA60 = Corsi against per 60. Corsi is any shot attempt
SA60 = Shots against per 60
SCA60 = Scoring chances against per 60
HDSCA60 = High danger scoring chances per 60
xGA60 = Expected goals against per 60
Basically he's terrible at defending.
Which is a problem for a defenseman.
