I love when people try and delete their social media history. If you have to consider that option, it's already too late.

Really surprised no one vetted his social media accounts before the hire.

Also a bit surprised about his political/societal views given the guy is half Japanese and Canadian. And that he was dumb enough to be posting his views for anyone to see.

I'm surprised he wouldn't have deleted that stuff the moment he found out he was getting interviewed by an NHL organization. Then again I'm surprised the Leafs wouldn't check this out prior to hiring him seeing how little work it would have taken.

I thought it was common knowledge that "likes are not endorsements."

I thought checking out somebody's social media is part of any hiring process nowadays. Weird that an NHL franchise wouldn't put in a few minutes of work there.

I don't see any content that he posted - did he get fired for his 'likes' history?

I think typically on twitter an employer would look at what someone posts. Maybe what they retweet. But there are so many reasons to "like" something, that it would be insane to use their "likes" to vet someone.

I like a whole lot of contrarian takes on twitter. Sometimes because they're provocative. Sometimes because they are cheeky. Sometimes because they're ridiculous. Sometimes because I actually like them. Sometimes, just as a quick way to bookmark. Sometimes to thank someone for defending their unpopular opinion, even if I disagree with said position. Sometimes to appreciate a good troll job.

During times like this, I genuinely feel sorry for white men. Because as a double minority I'm free to speak my mind on basically anything.

No one else would be fired for their "likes" on twitter. Just sayin. I just went through my "like" history over the past week and without any context, people would think I'm:

- a libertarian
- anti-vaxxer
- votes Trump
- has ties to ANTIFA
- drives a Dodge Ram
- loves progressive taxes
- hates the fake news media
- loves immigrants
- believes the communist party of china has infiltrated our democracy
- believes we are on the cusp of prolonged inflation

And really only one of those things are actually true.

But if I was hired as a goalie coach of Calgary Flames, none of my "like history" would matter. Because I'm not white.

If I was white, I'd have a silly name like Dusty Lmao, but would also get fired.

Yeah anyone would be fired for it and as a white male I have never felt censored then again I'm not a giant piece of s### and treat everyone as equal, you really think if this guys was minority he would have kept his job? This guy chose to show his beliefs on social media and now he has to live with the consequences he doesn't get pity just because he is white

Soo here's the kicker...

This guy is Canadian-Japanese so technically he IS a minority himself.

Getting fired for likes? Yikes!

Sorry, mostly liked how that sounded. Normally I would say that likes shouldn't represent opinions, but I dunno, if he was out there liking a bunch of the exact same thing then... maybe? Toronto is free to do whatever they want.
