Is this less than he made last year? I assume more at the AHL level for less at the NHL level?

Yes he made 787.5k last year in the NHL.

His QO would have paid him $826.875 k if he accepted it.

Good show me contract but he is in tough to make an impact. Have to think that Mackey is passing him on depth chart so he might be on waivers during camp

So is this likely a calculated move by him and his agent to be an easier player to keep up on the NHL roster due to his league minimum salary?

Kinnvall makes $925k for comparison.

He signed for less than his QO. So the AHL money must be higher then, or else whoops.

Probably. Would also expect him to get a bump up in AHL dough. Likely into six figures.

Could also be a better/higher guaranteed AHL salary that they negotiated for.

big payday in the AHL. He was only making 70k in the AHL last season. 300k is a huge amount usually only sought after veteran ufa tweeners have the leverage to get that amount of money in the minorshttps://twitter.com/user/status/1424850721057370122

He's a player that I weirdly kind of like. He's never gotten much of a chance here but he seems like one of those guys who has all the tools once he gets used to the pace of the big league. Or maybe I'm just having PTSD from trading Stralman to preserve the timeless memories Staffan Kronwall and Aaron Johnson gave to this organization.

I trust Sutter to figure out how best to deploy this guy. He has NHL skills and hasn't looked out of place when he's in the lineup.
One of the silver linings of losing Gio is potentially giving more opportunity down the lineup, including to someone like Kylington.

I'm not sold on Kjillington as a full time pro. He's actually a better skater than Brodie, similar in size however after 6 years of "playing against men" he hasn't even come close to Brodie's smarts as a 185 lb defender. One more year and perhaps someone else gives him a shot.
